HomeMy WebLinkAbout1947-12-17 65 Bozeman, Montana December 17th, 1947 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commis sion Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, December 17th, 1947, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, Ci t;t Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace, and the Clerk when the followln~ proceedings were had: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved b7 Commis ,"ioner I Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, and Commis- sioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. Commissioner Lowe entered and was noted present. Sub-Lease of Armory Building The Manager reported that the lease, which sub-leases the Armory Building to the Adjutant-General of the State of Montana has been approved by the Armory Board, a signed copy received, and the lease placed on file. Reports The following reports for the month of November, 1947 were presented. Cashier Engineer Nursery School It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by COITmissioner Lowe tha t the reports be accepted and ordered filed, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; tho s e vo ting No, none. I Temporary Lights Installed for Observation The Manager stated that under the plan of t he Mon tana Power Company to provide more adequate li~hting for The City of Bozeman, it was proposed to replace tt1e 2500 lumen orna- mental lights on Willson and Cleveland Avenues with 4000 lumen lights, an d the t , for obser- va tion, this has been done on Willson Avenue between Story Street and Koch Street, and on Cleveland Street between 'Third AVenue and Grand Avenue. Bonds for Members of Airport Board E. ,J. Parkin, and W. A. Wortman members of the Board of County Commissloners appeared be fore the Commission relative to bonding of members of the Airport Board. They explained that other county boards, such as School Boards and the Fair Board, all of whom handle funds, are not req ulred to be bonded. They recommended that no bond be required from the members of the Airport Board. They explained further that there are two Airport Boards, in Galla tin County, one for Gallatin Field and one for all other airports ln the County, the first being the one .jointly operated by The City of Bozeman and GClllatin County and that this joint County-City Board has been designated as the Gallatin Field Board. They recommended that this name be adop- I ted officially. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the City Attorney. be instructed to prepare a resolution to amend Resolution No. 518, the join t reso- lution of the City and GallatinCounty creatin~ an Airport Board, such amending resolution to eliminate the reouirement for bonding Airport Board members and to officially designate the name of the Board created under Resolution No. 51P as the Gallatin Field Board and the motion was carried by the followinp: Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. 66 Location of Sewage Treatment Plant Mr. Fred Quinnell, Resident Engineer for the Sewage Treatment Plant reported on his interview with the State Board of Health regarding the proposed location of the Sewage Plant, and the t they were in agreemen t as to the pro perty of Paul W. Smith being the most desirable loce tion . After discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that City Manager Henderson be authorized to obtain an option at a cost of not I to exceed $500.00 to purchRse the tract of land owned by Paul W. Smith for the location of the sewaR'e treatment plant and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy. Commissioner Sorenson and Commission~r Lowe; thos e voting No, none.
