HomeMy WebLinkAbout1947-12-24 Bozeman, Montana 67 December 24th, 1947 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, December 24th, 1947, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had: I The minutes of the lAst regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Sorenso n, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the minutes be approved as read, and the mo- tion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Cormnis sioner Sorenson and Commi ssi oner Lowe; thos e voting No, none. License for Eating Establishment on Campus Three college students were present to inquire about a city license to sell and deliver sandwiches on the Campus of Montana State COllege. They stated that all of the cooking would be done at 59 Cedar Avenue which is on the Campus, and the orders would be delivered only to dormitories also on the campus. They were in formed that as this part of the City was unzoned, that an eating place could be established there, but they were advised to get the permission to operate such a business from the proper college authorities before making application for a city license. Application for Tax Abatement := W. W. Hoffman The application of W. W. Hoffman, 209 North 8th Avenue for abatement of taxes for sidewalk construction in the Rmount of $152.55 was presented and read. It was explained that Mr. Hoffman had made arrangements wi th A. Tobin, the contractor, to construct this walk I and that Mr. Hoffman had paid the Contractor for this work, and the amount of the assess- ment plus the accrued interest would be deducted from the 90-day reserve payment due to A. Tobin. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the application for tax abatement be approved and the Director of Finance be authorized to make the proper entries on the City's records and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; thos e voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, non e. Bonds Y. Contracts for Sewage Treatrnent Equipment The bond and contract of the Chicago Pump Company for furnishing The City of Bozeman one commlnutor and two sludge pumps, equipment which is to be used in the sewage treatment plant, was presen ted. The bond and contract were approved as to form by the City l~ttorney . The bond and contract of the Bailey Meter Company for furnishing the Cl ty of Bozeman equipment for the metering and recording of sewage flows in the treat pla.nt was presented. The bond and contract were approved as to form by the City Attorney. The bond and contract of the Waterworks Equipment Company for furnishing The City of Bozeman one chlorinating machine was presented. The bond and contract were approved as to I form by the City Attorney. It was thereupon, moved by Commlss10nerSorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the bond and contract of the Chicago Pump Company, the Bailey Meter C omp any and the Waterworks Equipment Company be accepted and approved and that the certified checks be returned to the companies and the motion was carried by the follcwlng Ay'e and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson B....'1d Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. - 68 Applications for City Licenses The following applications for City Licenses were presented: Beer & Liquor: Park Bar M. Griffin Security Bank & Trust Co. Dr. Roy E. Seitz I ' , It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Comrdssioner Sorenson that the appli- cations be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vo te; those vot ing Aye being Ma~or Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting lJo, none. Ground for Sewage Treatment Plant ~r Paul W. Smith, owner of a tract of land on Rouse Street north of the City limits, which is being considered as a site for the Sewage Treatment Plant, appeared before the Commission. He offered the land and improvements thereon to the City for $13,000.00. After discussion it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson, that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare an option agreement to be entered into between the City and Mr. Smith under which the City will pay Mr. Smith $500.00 for an option to purchase the property in question, said $500.00 to apply on the purchase price if the City exercises the option, other details of the option contract to be in accordance with verbal agreement made with Mr. Smith at this time, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and I Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
