HomeMy WebLinkAbout1947-12-31 69 Bozeman, Montana December 31st, 1947 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, December 31st, 1947, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, I City v.anager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace, and the Acting Clerk, when the follow- ing proceedings were had: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No none. Enforcement of Sanitary Regulations Dr. A. D. Brewer, City-County Health Officer, and Lester D. Groom, Sanitary Inspector, met with the Commission to discuss sanitary conditions in the City. After discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that a re- survey be made jointly by the Health Department and the Building Inspection Depart- ment to ascertain all properties which have had City sewers adjacent to their premises for more than one year, that the owners of such properties be given written notice to make proper connections to City sewers not later than July 1st, 1948, and that where such connections are not made, the City take action to connect such properties to the sewer and assess cost of such connections against the property involved and I the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No none. Option - Paul G. Smith tract In accordance with instructions given at the last meeting of the City Commission, the City Attorney presented an option agreement between the City of Bozeman and Paul G. Smith for the purchase of a tract of land for a proposed location of the Sewage Treatment Plant. In consideration of payment of $500.00 the agreement gives the City an option to purchase this tract at a price of $13,000.00 at any time prior to May 1st, 1948, the $500.00 paid for the option to be applied on the purchase price. On motion made by Commissioner Sorenson seconded by Commissioner Lowe, the agreement was approved and the Ma yor and the Clerk authorized to sign it for the Ci ty, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No none. Claim of Paul G. Smith - Payment on Option Agreement The claim of Paul G. Smith in the amount of $500.00 for payment under the option agreement entered into this date, was presented. It was moved by Commissioner I Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy, that the claim be approved and warrant drawn for its payment against the F.W.A. 24-P-56 Fund, and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowej those voting No none. 70 Reports The following reports for the month of December, 1947, were presented and read: Police Judge Water Collector It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; I those voting No none. Lease and Option Agreement - Speith Property, Rouse and Babcock An agreement between the City of BozemAn and Speith Brothers, owners of a tract of ground at Rouse Avenue and Babcock Street, whereby the City will lease this prop- erty at $55.,00 per month with an option to purchase at a cost of $5000.00 was presented. This matter having been given prior consideration and the acquisition of the property being desired for use as a public parking lot, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, second- ed by Commissioner Sorenson, that the agreement be approved and the Mayor and the Clerk be authorized to sign it for the City and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No none. Gas Fitters and Plumbers Bond - Walter Savage Gas Fitters Bond and Plumbers Bond of Walter Savage, doing business as the Savage Plumbing and Heating Co., were presented. These bonds were approved as to form by the City Attorney whereupon it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy ~' '.t. that the bonds be approved and accepted and that the City Manager and the Clerk be I authorized to sign a release, effective the date of these bonds, of the Gas Fitters and Plumbers bonds of Savage and Wolfe which are being replaced by these bonds of Walter Savage and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and CotrJTIissioner Lowe; those voting No none. Applications for City Licenses The following applications for City Licenses were presented: Beer and Liquor Hollis Harrison Buslness: Leo MasstJ'lan Dr. Wayne E. Thompson Midwest Welding Co. Heetderks-Scherer Clinic Hotel Baxter Bozeman Cafeteria It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Com~missioner Lowe that the applications be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No none. I Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Mayor Healy that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Eealyand Commissioner Lowe; those voting No none.
