Taylor, Interim City Manager Bethany Jorgenson, Human Resources Director SUBJECT: Work Session with SGR to Discuss Final List of Attributes and Authorize the Interim City Manager to Approve the City Manager Profile MEETING DATE: June 15, 2017 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Action Item RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the Interim City Manager to approve the final City Manager profile and work with the recruiter to begin advertising the position. RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to authorize the Interim City Manager to approve the City Manager Profile and to work with SGR to begin advertising the City Manager position. BACKGROUND: Ron Holifield, CEO of Strategic Government Resources (SGR) is meeting with Commissioners and internal and external stakeholders on Wednesday, June 14, and Thursday, June 15, 2017. During this time, he will put together a draft City Manager position profile. The work session on Thursday, June 15 will refine the document to capture the Commission’s intent for the position. From there, Mr. Holifield will work with the Interim City Manager and the Human Resources Director to produce a final document for publication. Advertisement begins at that point. The position profile will contain at minimum: •Key responsibilities, 1 • Required attributes and qualifications, • Salary range, and • Community information UNRESOLVED ISSUES: Salary range for the City Manager position. The most recent data from the City’s comparators (collected by a third party) suggests a market rate of $147,000 per year. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission FISCAL EFFECTS: None.
