The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday afternoon, February 9, 1955 at 1:00 otclock P. M. Present were Mayor Lowe,
Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson, City Manager Henderson. City Attorney Lovelace and the
Clerk, when the following proceedings were had:
I Minutes of the last session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by
Commissioner Erwin, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the follow-
ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson;
those voting No, none.
Proposed Fire Zones
The Manager presented a map to show proposed new Fire Zones for the Fire Ordinance. After
consideration of the proposed zones, the Commission directed the City Attorney to prepare a draft of
the amending ordinance to set up these zones and directed the City Manager to discuss this matter
with members of the Board of Adjustment before any offioial action is taken on adoption of the
amending ordinance.
Claims for the Month
Claims Nos. 1621 to 1650 were presented on the various funds as follows:

The Manager stated that he has audited these claims and finds them to be true and lawful claims
against The City of Bozeman. and recommends that warrants be drawn for their payment. After examina-
tion of the claims in detail by the City Commission and checking against the Claim Register, it was
moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the claims be approved and warrants
issued for their payment, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting
Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Meeting of Middle Creek Water Userst Association
The annual meeting of the Middle Creek Water Userst Association will be held February 12, 1955.
It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the Mayor, City Commissioners
and the City Manager be authorized to attend this meeting and vote the stock of the City of Bozeman,
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe,
Commissioner Erwin, Com~i8sioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Authority to Purchase Radio Equipment for Fire Truok
The Manager reported that radio equipment for the Aerial Ladder Fire Truck will cost approximately
I '699.45. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the City Manager
be authorized to make application through the State Director of Civilian Defense for Federal Aid on
purohase of this radio-equipment and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Letter Confirming Meeting with Highway Officials
A communication from Scott Hart of the Highway Department was read. stating the. t the date of
March 2, 1955 for a meeting with Highway officials meets their approval.
Commissioner Swanson to Serve on Road Committee
It was reported that the Chamber of Commerce desires a representative of the City of Bozeman

to serve on their Road Committee. Commissioner Swanson consented to serve on this committee.
Banner Across Main Street for Auto Show
A request to have a banner across Main Street for the Auto Show, February 17th to 19th, was
reported. The Commdssion stated there would be no objeotion provided permission to hang the banner
was given by building owners and the sponsors of the Auto Show would assume any and all liability
which might arise.
Flatting by Evans Approved I
A proposed plat of a triangular tract of ground, approximately ~ acres in area, which lies on
the north side of U. S. Highway No. 10, approximately one-half mile northwest of the City Limits,
which ~lat has been prepared for Albert M. Evans, and which has been presented to the Director of
public Service for approval, was examined by the Commission. This tract of ground is more than
one...half mile from the City Limi ts and, following the policy established at the meeting on February
2, 1955, it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the Director of
Public Service be and is hereby authorized to approve the plat subject to his being furnished the
original drawing of same on which to endorse his approval and the motion was oarried by the following
Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those
voting No, none.
Explosion Insurance on Boilers
The matter of carrying special insurance on low pressure steam boilers owned and operated by
the Ci~ was considered. Boilers of this type are installed in the Ci~ Hall and the City Swimming
Pool. A quotation of a premium cost of $119.00 for three years coverage on each of these boilers
has been quoted. It was the opinion of the Commission that insurance of this kind is high in cost
for the protection furnished and therefore no action was taken in the matter. I

It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the reports be
accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: tho se voting
Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time. it was moved by
Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Er"Win,
Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
