HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-02-23 475 Bozeman, Montana February 23, 1955 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building. Wednesday afternoon, February 23. 1955 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Lowe. Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had: I Minutes of the last session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Swanson. that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none. Urging Mystic Lake for Recreational Area Mr. Boyd R. Opheim, District Fish Biologist, appeared before the Commission to ask for considera- tion of the opening of the Mystic Lake Water Shed for fishing and a recreational area. Reasons for closing the water shed, and treating of the water supply. were discussed. The Commission stated that before action of this kind could be taken, that approval would have to be obtained from the State Board of Health. and Mr. Opheim stated that he would get information as to requirements to be met if the water shed is opened for a recreational area. Reports A written report of observations made by the City Engineer of the sanitary land fill metilod for garbage disposal at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho Was presented to the Commission. The monthly report of the Cemetery Board for the month of January, 1956 was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson. that the reFort be accepted and ordered I filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe. Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson. those voting No, none. Leave of Absence -- F'isher and Johnson from Fire Department The written requests of Homer Fisher and Wm. Johnson of the Fire Department for an extension of time on their leaves of absence were read. The requests both stated that thei r doctors sey it will be some time before they can return to active duty. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the Ie aves of absence be extended subject to review at any time in the future, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin. Fire Zone Ordinance No. 779 Ordinance No. 779 revising the fire zones of the oity was presented, entitled: AN ORDINANCE CREATING AND ESTABLISHING FIRE ZONES AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NUMBER 684 OF THE CITY OF BOZEXAN AND ALL ORDINANCES mD PARTS OF ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. It was moved by Commissioner SWanson, seconded by Commissioner Krwin, that the ordinance be finally passed and adopted, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voti ng I Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin. Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none. Proposed Installation of Conduit by Mountain States T. & T. Co. A drawing showing the proposed installation of underground conduit by the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company was presented and reviewed. It was reported that formal application for this installation would be made by the telephone company and action on the matter was deferred until application is made. Travel Expenses Authorized for Interviewing of Applicants for Administrative Assistant The Manager stated that before employing an administrative assistant he has two applicants he 4_7f.l would like to personally interview and this would involve expense for these applicants. One would invol ve eXf'ense from Tacoma. Washington to Portland. Oregon and the, other would involve expense from La Jolla, Cal ifornia to Bozeman. Montana.. It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the expenses of these two applicants be authorized and their eXf;enses be paid from the General Fund, and the motion was carried by the following ~e and No votel those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, I Commissioner Swanson; those voting No. none. Adjournmen t There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Swanson. seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
