M. Present were Mayor Lowe, Commi ssioner Erwin, Commissioner Arnold M. Swanson (newly apj:.ointed), City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk, when the fol10wim; pro<,eedinr,s were had: Arnold M. Swanson having been regul arly apyointed and havine: si gned the oath of office as City 1 Commissioner and havinPc: furnished the required bond, the bond havini~ been approved by the Judge of the District Court, the Commission declared him a regulRr member and he took his seat as a member of the City Commi ssi on. Minutes of the last session were read, end it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, tha t the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those votinc Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none. City to Protest Discontinuance of Service at Gallatin Field Don Bennett, Cecil Overfelt, DeaD Chaffin, Joe Hansford, Joe Monger an d Harry Duntsch representing the Bozeman Chamber of Commerce appeared before the Commission to urge trie Cit,y of Bozeman to make a formal protest to the Civil Aeronautics Board against discontinuance of air service by Northwest. Ai rlines at Gallatin Field. The COllunission steted they would do whatever they could to keep air service at Gallatin Field, and it was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commlssioner Erwin, that the Clty Attomey be instructed to prepare a resolution l,rotestinp; the discontinuance of service by Northwest AirUnes, and the mot ion was carried by the following !Aye and No va te: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Comrnissioner Erwin, Commissioner SWanson; those voting No, none. I Lights for Parkins Lot - Will son & Babcock It was repo rted that the pa rking lot at the corner of Willson Avenue and Bebcock Street is not lighted. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the Ci ty MaD8e;er be authorized to have flood lights installed at this parkinc lot, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those vo tint'; No, none. No, nor "J. 42H Releasing Attachment Bond -- D. L. Henry It was re~orted that, in the matter of the a-ttachinc the B.ssets of D. L. Henry, the City of Bozeman furnished 8. bond, and since this case is closed the bond should be released. I Jolice for High School Dance A request has been received from Homer Anderson, Principal 0f Gallatin County Hifh School, for a policeman to be assigned to duty at the Hip;h School to preserve order during a dance to be held there on ~riday night. October 1. 1954. The City Commission instructed that, in 1 ine with established poli cy, a policeman should be provided for the speciRl service, r'rovided that (~allBtin County High School pay for the service. LeasinG of Fol ice Cars -- Lundgren- Ford and Northern Automobile Co. On pol ice car lease agreements between the City of Bozeman and the Northern Automobile Company end Lundgren Ford, In c . , bo th firms have gi V8n oral notir8 that they will not continue the contracts on their present basis. Police cars are now leased from these dealers et $100.00 per manUI, the dealers providin~ all mechanical service, including repair and replacement of lJarts and tires, at their expense. Present contrad:s Are cancellRble by either party at any time after thirty days written notice. Each of these dealers now proposes to rent a police car or cars to the City at One hundred twenty- five and no/100 Dollars ($125.00) per month, the City of Bozeman to provide ell service on the cars, includinf: tire repair and reI-'lacement, at its expense. After discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanso~, thA. t the I Ci ty Manager be au thoriz ed to accept an amendment in the rental contracts for police cars on a temporary basi s from either or any company at a rate of $125.00 Ter month, the City of Bozeman to pay the operating expenses includinr, the tires, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner SWanson; those voting No, none. LeasinG of Car for Engineering Department The 1946 Cbevrolet Sedan-Delivery car used by the City EngiT'eer has become unusable And the cost of repairs requirpd to put it in running ('..Qndition would be considerable more than the VAlue of the vehicle after it was rel)aired. After consideration re,gardine; replecine; this car, it wes moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the City Manager be authorized to rent a suitable vehicle for use of the City Engineer at a rate of $100.00 per month and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Corrmissioner Erwin, Commissioner SW~lson; those voting No, none.
