The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular sesdon in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday afternoon, October 20, 1954 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Lowe,
Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the
Clerk, when the following proceedings were had:

Commissioner Swanson, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the follow-
ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson;
those voting No, none.
Request for Dancing -- The Cue
Bob Lyons, operator of The Cue, 120 West Main, appeared before the Commission to request a permit
for danoing at his establishment from 4:00 P. M. to 6:00 P. M. which would be incidental to the opera-
tion of The Cue. After consideration, the matter was taken under advisement.
Bond W. D. Howells -- W & C 1954
The bond of W. D. Howells for the construotion of Mlscellaneous Walks & Crosswalks, 1954 was
presented. The bond was approved as to form by the City Attorney. It was moved by Commissioner Swanson,
seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the bond be approved and accepted and the motion was carried by the
following Aye end No vote: those voting Aye bemg Mayor Lowe, Conunissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson;
those voting No, none.
Representatives at Hearing -- Air Service by North..st Airlines
Mr. Dean Chaffin appeared before the Commission to urge attendanoe of the City Manager and the
I City Attorney at the hearing set for October 28th, 1964 in Spokane, Washington regarding the dis-
oontinuance of air service at Gallatin Field by Northwest Airlines, Inc. After consideration, it was
moved by Commissioner Ennn, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that, it being in the public interest,
attendance of the City Manager and the City Attorney be authorized at this hearing, and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin,
Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Group Insurance Sponsored by Municipal League
The City Manager reported on the Hospital-Medical Group Insurance sponsored by the Montana
Municipal League. It was pointed out that, under this plan, the City pay the entire premium for each
individual employee, and it was decided not to take any action in the matter at the present time and
under the present budget.
D. A. V. Forget-Me-Not Day
A request from the D. A. V. to have their annual Forget-Me-Not Tag Day on Saturday, November 6,
1964 was read. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the request
be approved and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
I Repair of Ditoh Used by Water Shed Patrolman
It was reported that a flume which crosses a ditch on the property of Mrs. Ann Fridley, south of
the city, and used to car~ water to irrigate land owned by the City and used by the patrolman for the
water shed and also to irrigate land owned by Murray Nash is in need of repair. It was further reported
that Murray Nash will put the ditch in shape provided the City of Bozeman will furnish the pipe necessar,y
for the repair work. It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seoonded by Commissioner Erwin, the t the
City of Bozeman contribute $100.00 toward the cost at 1he pipe, and all work and other expense to he
the responsibility of Murray Nash and subject to the approval of Mrs. .Ann Fridley, and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin,

PUrchase of Meters for Water Department
It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, the. t the City Manager be
authorized to purchase water meters for the Water Department in the amount of $717.30, and the
motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner
Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none. I
Resolution No. 778 -- Assessing S. I. D. 376
The resolution levying the assessment for the construotion of Special Improvement District No.
376, paving on North Willson Avenue from Mendenhall Street to Lamme Street in the amount of $6,699.42,
was presented, entitled:

THE IMFROVEMEN'IS WITHIN SAID SFECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO.376.
It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, second~d by Commissioner Erwin, that the resolution be
provisionally adopted and Ootober 27th, 1954 be set as the date for hearing protests, and the motion
was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin,
Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Resolution No. 779 -- Assessing S. I. D. 377
The resolution levying the assessment for the construotion of Special Improvement District No. 377,
paving the alley in Block "A" Alderson's Addition, in the amount of $3,920.27 was presented, entitled:

The resolution levy ing the assessment for the outting of weeds for the year 1964 in the amount of I
$111.60 was presented entitled:

MENT OF TAXES UPON CERTAIN PROPERTIES IN 'lHE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLATIN, STATE OF
MONTANA, TO DEFRAY 'IHE COST OF EXTERMINATION AND RmOV.AL OF NOXIOUS WEEDS FOR THE YEAR 1954
PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 428 ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE DEFINING AND PRO-
VIDING FOR 'IHE PUNISHMENT .AND ABATEMENT OF CERTAIN NUISANCES."
It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the resolution be

Resolution No. 782 -. Extending Ci~ Limits to Include Thompson Addition
It was stated this was the time and place set for publio hearing on extending the city limits to
inolude a traot of land to be known as the Thompson Addition. The affidavit of publication of the
Notioe was presented. There were no protests filed and no one was present to protest. Resolution
No. 782 extending the city limits to include the tract of land was presented. entitled;

It was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seoonded by Commissioner Swanson. that the resolution be
passed and adopted. end the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting ~e being

Adjournment
There being no further business to cane before the Commission at this time. it was moved by
Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Swanson. that the meeting adjourn and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe. Commissioner Erwin.
