The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday afternoon, October 27, 1954 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Lowe,
Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the
Clerk, 1ilen the following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the last session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seoonded by I
Commissioner Swanson, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the follow-
ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson;
those voting No, none.
Bids for Police Cars -- Rental and/or Purchase
This being the time and place set for opening bids on renting or purchase of cars for use in the
police Department, the affidavit of publication of the Notice to Bidders was presented. It was moved
by Commissioner Swanson, secCllded by Commissioner Erwin, that the bids be opened and read, and 'the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner
Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.

Final Passage Resolution 778 -- Assessing S. I. D. 375
This being the time and 1-,lace set for the hearing of protests to the final adoption of the
Resolution levying the assessment tor Special Improvement District No. 375, paving on North Willson
from Mendenhall to Lamme Street, the affidavit of publication of the Notice was pr.esented. No one was
present to protest and no protests having been tiled, Resolution No. 778 was presented entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, LEVYIlolG AND ASSESSING A SPECIAL
ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON ALL THE PROPERTY IN SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 375 IN THE CITY
OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLATIN, STATE OF MONTANA, TO DEFRAY THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING AND MAKING
THE IMPROVEMENTS WITHIN SAID SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 375.
It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the resolution be
finally passed and adopted and 'the motion was carried by the following Aye end No vote: those voting

Final Passage Resolution No. 779 -- Assessing S. I. D. 377
This being the time and place set for the hearing of protests to 'the final adoption of the
Resolution levying the assessment tor Special Improvement Distriot No. 377, paving of the alley in
Block A of Alderson's Addition, the affidavit of publication of the Notice was presented. No one was
present to protest and no protests having been filed, Resolution No. 779 was presented entitled: I

This being the t1me and place set for the hearing of protests to the final adoption ot the
resolution levying the assessment for Speoial Improvement Distriot No. 379, paving on North Willson 4:37
from Lamme Street to Villard Street, the affidavit of publioation of the Notice was presented. No
one was present to protest and no protests were filed. Resolution No. 780 was presented, entitled:

Final Passage Resolution No. 781 -- Weed Assessment
This being the time and place set for the hearing of protests to the final adoption of the
resolution levying the assessment for the cutting of weeds for the year 1954, the affidavit of publica-
tion of the Notice was presented. No one was present to protest and no protests were filed. Resolution
No. 781 was presented, entitled:

Dancing at Cue -- Letters to P. T. A.
Request fbr a per.mit to conduct dancing at "The Cue" from 4&00 P. M. to 6:00 P. M. whioh was
I oarried over from the meeting; of October 20, 1954 was further considered. As the Commission was
of the opinion that children of Junior High and Senior High SChool ages would be affected, the City
Manager was instructed to write a letter to the J:unior High and Senior High School P. T. A. and request
an opinion from their membership as to their desires in the matter.
Rental of Street Equipment to Montane. State College
In conneotion with the construction of the Men's Dor;mito~ at the College, it would be necessa~
to cut the pavement on Seventh and Eighth Avenues and on Cleveland Street to lay a 4160 volt oable and
it would also be necessary to cut the plvement for the installation of the storm sewer for the Women's
Donni tory. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Conunis8ioner Swanson. the t the Ci ty
Manager be authorized to rent the City's Compressor and Air Hanmer Pavement Breaker to Montana State
College for these jobs, and 'the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting
Aye being Mayor Lowe. Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Sale of Bonds for S. I. D. 380
It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seoonded by Commissioner Erwin. that the Clerk of the City
Commission be authorized to advertise for the sale of Speoial Improvement District No. 380 bonds in
the 8.FTroxlmate amount of $3,300.00 to pay for the construction of this district. and the motion was
I oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe. Conunissioner Erwin,
Commissioner Swanson} those voting No, none.
Bond of Standard Construction Company -- S. I. D. 380
The bond of the Standard Construotion Company for the oonstruction of Special Improvement
District No. 380 was presented. The bond was approved as to form by the City Attorney. It was moved
by' Commissioner Erwin. seoonded by Commissioner Swanson. that the bond be approved and accepted and the
motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe. Conunissiomr
Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.

Reports
The following reports were presen tad;
Plumbing Inspector for the months of August and September, 1954

Employment of Morrison-Maierle, Inc. to Make Water Study
A communication from Morrison-Maierle. Inc. was read asking authority to inour traveling expenses
in connection with a supplementary study of the city's water supply regarding the offer ot the Montana
Flour Mills to sell the City their water rights in Bozeman Creek. After disoussion, it was moved by
Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Mayor Lowe. that this expenditure be authorized and the motion was
oarried by the following Aye end No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe and Commissioner Swanson;
those voting No, being Commissioner Erwin.
Traffio -- Order Extending School Zone at Longfellow School
Eliminating Parking Stall - Mendenhall and Tracy
Traffic at the interseotion of East Story and South Traoy Avenue and the intersection of North
Tracy and Mendenhall Street was discussed. It was moved by Commissioner Swanson. seconded by
Commissioner Erwin. that the City Manager be instructed to take the neoessary steps, including the
ereotion of signs. to further restriot parking on the East side of South Tracy Avenue to the South line
of East Story Street; and to remove the first parking meter on the north side of Mendenhall Street
east of North Tracy Avenue and replaoe it with a "No Parking" sign on a trial basis, and the motion . I
was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe and Commissioner
Swanson; those voting No. none.
Adjournment
There being no further business to oome before the Commission at this time. it was moved by
Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Swanson. that the meeting adjourn and the motion was
