M. fresent were Mayor Lowe, H. Dean Moore. Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and/the Acting Clerk, when the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by I Commissioner Swanson, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none. Claim - Esti1lB. te #1 - S. I. D. #380 - Standard Construction Co. A claim of the Standard Construction Company in the amount of $1,168.83 f~r work done in S. I. D. #380, as per the City Engineer's Estimate #1, was presented. The City Manager stated that it is a true and lawful claim against the City of Bozeman and recommended that a warrant be ordered drawn for its payment. It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the claim be approved and that a warrant be drawn for its payment and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting; Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner SWanson; those voting; No, none. Written Approval - Proposed Truck Route - Chamber of Commerce A letter was read from the Bozeman Chamber of Commerce expressing apI,roval by their Board of Directors of a truck route in Bozeman as proposed by the Montana Highway Department, on which action was taken by the City Commission at their last regular meeting Authorization to purchase used car for use of City Engineer I As authorized by the City Commission on September 29, 1954, the City has been renting a 1951 Ford Station Wagon (Motor No. BIKC 137765) from the Northern Automobile Company, for the us e of the City Engineer, at a monthly rental of $100.00. This vehicle can now be purchased at a net cost of $965.00. It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to purchase the above described vehicle and that payment for it be made from the General Fund and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner SWanson; those voting No, none. Location of Gas Pump - Montana power Company The City Manager reported that the Montana Power Company now proposes to install an underground storage tank and a gasoline pump at the rear of their warehouse at Mendenhall Street and Ida Avenue. Since the installation will be on private property and not in street area as originally proposed, it was not considered that any action in the matter by the City Commission is required. Purchase of U. S. Government Bonds for Cemetery Permanent Care Fund Director of Finance Shadoan has informed the City Manager that, as of this date, there is $10,203.63 cash on hand in the Cemetery Permanent Care Fund and he recommended that $10,000.00 of this amount be invested in U. S. Government bonds. It was moved by Commissioner E~in, seconded by I Commissioner Swanson, that the Director of Finance be and is hereby authorized to invest $10,000.00 of the cash on hand in the Cemetery Permenent Care Fund in U. S. Government Type K Bonds for the investment account of Cemetery Permenent Care and the motion wes carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none. Elks Elks Eagl es Eagl es American Legion American Legion - 0 f f P r e m i s e s - Ralph's Safeway A & E Market Parkway All of these applications being for renewal of existing licenses and the a}plications being in proper form and accompanied by the required license fee, it was moved by COIl11ilissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the alplications be apFroved and the licenses ordered granted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Meyor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner SWanson; tilose voting No, none. froposed Amendment - Traffic Ordinance - Farking in .Alleys The City Maneger informed the Commission on complaints which continue to be received relative to vehicl es parked in alleys and on further recolTllTendations which have been received, in addition to that previously made by Chief of Police Haas, that the traffic ordinance be amended to at least I prohibi t parking in alleys in the Main Business District. After lengthy discussion, the Commission instructed the City Attorney to prepare an amendment to Ordinance No. 768, the Traffic Ordinance, which will: 1- Frohibi t parking of vehicles at all times in alleys in the Bus iness District, Part 1, as defined in Ordinance No. 776, the Zoning OrdinBnce, excert while such vehicles are actually being loaded or unloaded. 2. Prohibit pnrking of vehicles in all other alleys in the City at all times, except men such pArked vehicles are actually being loaded or unloaded, and except when such parked vehicles do not prevent the unobstructed movement of other vehicles through the alley where such vehicle may be rarked. Froposed Ordinance - Electrical Inspection The City Manager presented a profosed ordinBnce which he had received from A.rthur Stewart, owner of the Bozeman Ele ctric Company, as a relresentative of local Electrical Contractors and Electricians, which ordinance contains the recommendations of that &.~roup relative to regulations on electrical installations and the 8ffil,loyment of an electrical inspector. \Vhile the members of the City Commission eXfJressed themselves as favoring adequa te regula tions and insrecti on of electri cal instal Ie, tions, there were numerous points in the ordinance as proposed which were not considered feasible or workable in this City. The proposed ordinance was tl;lken for further detailAd I and individual study by the members of the Commission and action in the matter deferred fending; comI 1 etion of such study.
