HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953-08-19 272 Bozeman, Montana August 19. 1953 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Conunission Room, City Hall building, Wednesday afternoon, August 19, 1953 at 1:00 o'clock F. M. Present were Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the C~rk when the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read. and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the minutes be approved as read. and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none. Bids for S. I. D. Nos. 371 & 372 The City Manager reported on a meeting of the owners of property in Special Improvement District Nos. 371 and 372 held on Monday, August 17, 1953. A large majority of owners at this meeting voted in favor of having the proposed pavement constructed on Alternate ~o. 3 of tile specifications (Hot Plant Mix) and requiring the contractors to produce the Hot Plant Mix as required by the specificat~ons. Mr. Oliver, representing the Long Construction Company, was present to discuss the specifications and the plant proposed to be used for this project. He stated that their plant could be converted to comply with the specifications to require a separation of all the aggregate after it has been passed through the drier. City Engineer Waldorf stated if this requirement was met it would. in his estirna- tion. make the finished product comply with the spec if'ioa tions. It was thereupon moved by Corr~issioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that oontracts for the oonstruction of street improvements in Special Improvement Distriot Nos. 371 and 372 be awarded to the Long Construction Co. in acoordanoe with their bids submitted on August 5. 1953. for Schedule No. 1, Basic Bid, and Schedule No.2. Alternate No.3, (Hot Plant Mix) subject to the contractor's furnishing written information to the City of Bozeman of such nature that it will snow conolusively that he will meet the specifications of the City of Bozeman as to gradation of aggregates subsequent to their passing through the drier. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. Bond of H. Dean Moore -- Cashier & Water Collector The bond of H. Dean Moore as Cashier and Water Collector was presented. The bond was approved as to form by the City Attorney. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin, tha t the bond be approved and aoceIJted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Seoor. Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. Librarian to Facific Northwest Librarian's Assooiation A written request from Margaret Hileman, Librarian, to attend a meeting of the Paoific Northwest Librarian's Association to be held in Sun Valley. Idaho. September 9th to 11th. 1953 was read. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that it being in the public interest that Miss Hileman be authorized to attend this meeting and her expenses be paid from the Library Fund, and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none. Request to Change Zoning -- Royal Vista Addition A written request from Roy D. Houser asking that the property in Royal Vista Addition be rezoned as an "A" Residence District was read. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the request be referred to the Board of Adjustment for their reoommendation, and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none. I 1 I Reports The following reports for the month of July, 1953 were presented: Cashier Water Collector It was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye I being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none.
