Wednesday afternoon, September 2. 1953 at 1:00 0' clock F. M. Present were Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe. Comrnissioner Erwin. City Manager Henderson. City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk when the following proceedings were had: I Minutes of the last regular session were read. and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the minutes be approved as read. and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote a those vot ing Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none. New Rates for N. Y. L. Group Insurance Mr. Hugh Reid. representative of the New York Life Insurance Company appeared before the Commission and stated that the home office of his organization has advised that the monthly premiums for group medical and hospital insurance carried by his company would be increased as of September 15th, 1953. After consideration, it was decided that all employees be advised of the amount of the rate increase and be given an opportunity to decide if they wish to continue wi~h New York Life Group Insurance at the increased rate. Request to Install Water Main in Langohr's Addition Owners of property in Langohr's First Addition a~peared before the Commission and requested that the City of Bozeman install the water main to serve the property in this district and that the property owners would re-imburse the City for such cost. The owners were informed that the City could not do this I construction work as in their opinion it would not meet with favor with prospective contractors and with other property owners who have paid for the laying of water mains by the establishment of Special Improvement Districts. Resolution No. 747 -- Sprinkling Assessment The resolution levying the assessment for street sprinkling for the year 1953. in the amount of il.530.23 was presented. entitled: A RESOLUTION OF' THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF' BOZ~AN LEVYING AND ASSESSING A SPECIAL ASSESS- MENT OF' TAXES UPON ALL THE PROPERTY IN STREET SPRINKLING DISTRICTS OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY Ol" GALLATIN, STATE OF MONTANA. TO DEFRAY SEVENTY-FIVE PERCENT OF THE COST OF SPRINKLING STREF.:TS WITHIN SAID STREET SPRINKLING DISTRICTS OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN FOR THE YEAR 1953. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the Resolution be pro- visionally passed and September 9th, 1953 be set as the date for hearing protests. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No votea those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, CODooissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. Resolution No. 746 -- Lighting Assessment The resolution levying the assessment for Street Lighting for the year 1953. in the amount of $2.122.35 was presented, entitled: I A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA. LEVYING AND ASSESSING LIGHTING DISTRICT MAINTENANCE AND ELECTRICAL CURRENT COSTS FOR SPBCIAL IMPROVEMENT LIGHTING DISTRICTS NUMBERS 361, 362, 284. 288, 289. 290. 295, AND 300 OF THE CITY OF BOZ~~. PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF SECTIONS 11-2252 R. c. M. 1947. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the resolution be provision- ally passed and September 9th, 1953 be set as the date for hearing protests. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Resolution No. 745 -- Parking Maintenance Assessment The resolution levying the assessment for parking maintenance for the year 1953, in the amount of $5.589.53 was presented. entitled: 2~7R A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, LEVYING MJD ASSgSSING A SFECIAL ASSESS- MENT OF TAXgS illON ALL THE PROPgRTY IN SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICTS OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GAI..LATIN, STATE OF MONT.A}.jA, FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF PARKINGS TO DEFRAY THE COST OF MAIN TAIN ING THE PARKINGS WITHIN SAID SP1OC:IAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICTS OF THE CITY OF BOZEM.ANFOR THE YEAR 1953. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the resolution be pro- visionally passed and September 9th, 1953 be set as the date for hearing protests, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none. Reports The following reports for the month of August. 1953 were presented: Police Judge Librarian and the report of the Director of Finance for the month of JWle. 1953. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Lowe. that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none. Request to Attend Chief's Convention Denied The request of A. N. Haas. Chief of 1'olice. to attend the International Association of Chiefs of Police convention in Detroit, September 13th through 17th. 1953 was considered. After consideration. it was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that. under the present circu~ stances. the request be denied. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; thOSe voting No, none. After examination of the claims in detail by the City COllunission and checking the claims against the claim register. it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the claims be approved and warrants drawn for the ir payment. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote. those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Lowe. that the meeting adjourn, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe.
