The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room. City Hall
building. Wednesday afternoon, September 2. 1953 at 1:00 0' clock F. M. Present were Mayor Secor,
Commissioner Lowe. Comrnissioner Erwin. City Manager Henderson. City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk
when the following proceedings were had:

Minutes of the last regular session were read. and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded
by Commissioner Erwin, that the minutes be approved as read. and the motion was carried by the follow-
ing Aye and No vote a those vot ing Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin; those
voting No. none.
New Rates for N. Y. L. Group Insurance
Mr. Hugh Reid. representative of the New York Life Insurance Company appeared before the
Commission and stated that the home office of his organization has advised that the monthly premiums
for group medical and hospital insurance carried by his company would be increased as of September 15th,
1953.
After consideration, it was decided that all employees be advised of the amount of the rate increase
and be given an opportunity to decide if they wish to continue wi~h New York Life Group Insurance at the
increased rate.
Request to Install Water Main in Langohr's Addition
Owners of property in Langohr's First Addition a~peared before the Commission and requested that
the City of Bozeman install the water main to serve the property in this district and that the property
owners would re-imburse the City for such cost. The owners were informed that the City could not do this

construction work as in their opinion it would not meet with favor with prospective contractors and
with other property owners who have paid for the laying of water mains by the establishment of Special
Improvement Districts.
Resolution No. 747 -- Sprinkling Assessment
The resolution levying the assessment for street sprinkling for the year 1953. in the amount of
il.530.23 was presented. entitled:

COUNTY Ol" GALLATIN, STATE OF MONTANA. TO DEFRAY SEVENTY-FIVE PERCENT OF THE COST OF SPRINKLING
STREF.:TS WITHIN SAID STREET SPRINKLING DISTRICTS OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN FOR THE YEAR 1953.
It was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the Resolution be pro-
visionally passed and September 9th, 1953 be set as the date for hearing protests. and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No votea those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, CODooissioner Lowe.
Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none.
Resolution No. 746 -- Lighting Assessment
The resolution levying the assessment for Street Lighting for the year 1953. in the amount of
$2.122.35 was presented, entitled:

It was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the resolution be provision-
ally passed and September 9th, 1953 be set as the date for hearing protests. and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner
Erwin; those voting No. none.
Resolution No. 745 -- Parking Maintenance Assessment
The resolution levying the assessment for parking maintenance for the year 1953, in the amount of
$5.589.53 was presented. entitled:

It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the resolution be pro-

It was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Lowe. that the reports be accepted
and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Secor. Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none.
Request to Attend Chief's Convention Denied
The request of A. N. Haas. Chief of 1'olice. to attend the International Association of Chiefs of
Police convention in Detroit, September 13th through 17th. 1953 was considered. After consideration.
it was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that. under the present circu~
stances. the request be denied. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; thOSe voting No, none.

The Manager stated that he has audited these claims and finds them to be crue and lawful claims
against the City of Bozeman and recommends that warrants be drawn for their payment. After examination
of the claims in detail by the City COllunission and checking the claims against the claim register. it
was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the claims be approved and warrants
drawn for the ir payment. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote. those voting Aye
being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by
Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Lowe. that the meeting adjourn, and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe.
