HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953-09-23 Bozeman, Montana September 23, 1953 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Hoom, City Hall building. Wednesday afternoon, September 23, 1953 at 1:00 o'clock F. M. Present were Mayor Secor. Commissioner Erwin, City Manager Henderson. City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk when the following proceedings were had: I Minutes of the last regular session were read. and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Mayor Secor. that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none. Bids for S. I. D. No. 371 Bonds This being the time and place set for the hearing of bids for the sale of Special Improvement District No. 371 bonds. in the approximate amount of $27,000.00. the City Manager rresented the affidavit of publication of the Notice to Bidders. It was moved by Mayor Secor. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the wri tten bids be opened and read. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none. The following written bids were opened and read: Grande ~ Company, Inc. par 5% interest $35.00 premium Metcalf & Thompson par 6% interest ". I Mayor Secor called for oral bids and the following bids were heard: Metcalf & Thompson par 5% interest $67.50 premium Brooks Realty Co. par 4-7/8% interest Metcalf & Thompson par 4-7/8% interest 67.50 premium Brooks Realty Co. par 4~ interest Metcelf & Thompson par ~% interest 67.50 premium Brooks Realty Co. par 4-3~% interest Metcalf & Thompson par 4-3/8% interest 67.50 premium Brooks Realty Co. par 4-3/8% interest 81.00 premium Metcalf & Thompson par 4-3/8% interest 100.00 premium Brooks Realty Co. par 4-3/8% interest 150.00 premium No further bids being heard, it was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Mayor Secor. that the bid of the Brooks Realty Company being the best bid at 4-3/8% interest with a $150.00 premium be accepted. and the certified checks be returned to the unsuccessful bidders, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner 8rwin; those voting No, none. Bids for S. I. D. 372 Bonds The Manager stated this was the time and place set for the sale of bonds of Special Im}irovement District No. 372 bonds in the approximate amount of $26,000.00. He presented the affidavit of publica- tion of the Notice to Bidders. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Mayor Secor. that the written bids be opened and read. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Conmissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none. Agreement -- Sewer Connection for Hugo Eck An agreement between the City of Bozeman and Hugo Eck. giving Mr. Eck permission to connect to the sanitary sewer in the alley west of Langohr's First Addition as discussed at the meeting of September 9. 1953 was presented. The agreement having been prepared by the City Attorney. it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Mayor Secor. that the Mayor and the Clerk of the City Commission be authorized to sign the agreement for The City of Bozeman, and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Erwinj those voting No. none. Request to Connect to Water Supply Line -- Hugo Eck Mr. Hugo Eck was present and asked permission to corillect to the city's water supply line to serve his property located south of Langohr's First Addition and outside of the city limits. He stated that the instrument of conveyance dated in 1925 is ambiguous and has not been satisfied as no domestic use has been provided. He stated further that he has no objections to being wi thin the city limits. The Commission stated that consideration would be given to his request, and Mr. Eck stated he would look into the matter of bringing his property wi thin the city. Hequest to Open "Slaughter House Road" Mrs. Lill ilin Gardiner apI-eared before the Commission and requested that the Slaughter House Road be oI-ened. She stated that it was closed temporarily during the war, and thet she would present paJ::,ers to show that it was closed on e. temporary basis. Mrs. Gardiner was informed that she could bring action against the City to have the road reopened. or that e. petition could be circulated to bave the road reopened. ReI,ort The report of the Director of Finance for the month of August. 1953 was presented. It was moved by Mayor Secor. seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the report be accepted and ordered filed and the motion wes carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwinj those voting No. none. Request to Extend Driveway -- 208 East Babcock A request of Earl Ogle, to widen the driveway at 208 East Babcock was considered. It was moved by Mayor Secor. seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that permission to widen the driveway six feet to the east of tbe present driveway be granted. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Erwinj those voting No, none. Fine Remitted -- Docket 20, No. 11189 Mayor Secor rerorted that. upon recommendation of' F'olice officials Dnd the City Attorney. he has remitted .:jji50.00 of the $75.00 fine in the case of The City of Bozeman vs William Arthur Hagen. Jr.. Docket No. 20, Case No. 11189.
