The Commission of the Ci~ of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room~ City Hall
building~ Wednesday afternoon~ November 26~ 1963 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Secor~
Commissioner Lowe~ Commissioner Erwin~ City Manager Henderson~ City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk
when the following proceedings were had:

Minutes of the last regular session were read~ and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe~ seconded
by Commissioner Erwin, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the follow-
ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor~ Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those
voting No, none.
Water Service to MSC Foultry Farm - 1601 South Third Avenue
Verbal request has been received by W. R. Border~ Water Superintendent, to replaoe the 3/4" water
line now serving the Montana State College Poultry Far.m at 1601 South Third Avenue with a l~" line.
This property is outside the city limits but it has been served by the Bozeman City Water System for
many years. This fact~ together vd th the fact that the property has for e. number of years been a part
of Montana State College were given consideration and it was moved by Commissioner LdWe~ seconded
by COlmnissioner Erwin~ that, subject to Montana State College paying the cost thereof~ authority be
and is hereby given to install this l!" service and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none.
Plan for Tourist Court - Seventh & Beall Street
Mr. J. Kolokotrones appeared before the Commission and presented a plan of a tourist court he
proposes to build on property he owns between Seventh AVenue and Eighth Avenue at Beall Street. After

examination of the plan by the Commission, it was moved by Commissioner Erwin~ seconded by Commissioner
Lowe~ that this general plan be approved subject to detailed plans being furnished to insure that con-
struction will comply with city building, plumbing and wiring regulations, and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner
Erwin; those vot ing No, none.
Mr. Kolokotrones also inquired regarding the covering of the irrigation ditch that crosses Eighth
Avenue North, just west of his proper~. The Commission stated they would look it over.
Apflication to Remove Trees on North Seventh Avenue
The following applications to remove trees on North Seventh Avenue were presented:

It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the applications be
approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor~
Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none.
Adjustment of Water Bill for Bozeman Hotel
It was reported that, due to a leak in the water service under the basement floor at the Bozeman

Hotel~ the water bill for the months of July, August, September~ Ootober and November have been con-
siderable in excess of the average use for other months. The leak has now been repaired and the water
bill for December 1. 1953 is an average bill for that establishment. After consideration, and in line
with the policy adopted for adjustment of water bills where leaks have been repaired, it was moved by
Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that an adjustment be authorized to reduce the water
bill a total of $164.17 for the months of August, September, October and November, and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner,Lowe,
Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none.

Communication -- Re Fire at B-B Cafe
A communication from Earl Dawes, owner of the property at 215 East Main Street, was read commend-
ing the Fire Department on their quick action in extinguishing the fire at the B-B Cafe~
Closing Library on December 26th, 1953
A request of the Librarian to have the Library closed on December 26th, 1963 was reported. The
matter was referred to the Library Board for recommendation.
Tractor - Bulldozer for Use at City Dump
The City Manager reported that the "Cle-Track" tractor-loader which has been used by the Street
Department since 1940 is broken down and so badly worn out that it is not practical to buy the large
number of parts and make the extensive repairs that would be necessary to put it in usable condition.
One special need which the City has for a track-type tractor is for maintenance at the city dump. The
possibility of eliminating the city dump and commencing the "Sanitary Land Fill" method of garbage dis-
posal was discussed. The Manager was instructed to secure data on available ground. on equipment
which would be required, on estimated cost of operation, and all other available information relative
to this method of garbage disposal. He was also instructed to investigate availability and costs of
used, track-type tractors which might be purchased for present maintenance of the city dump and which
might later be traded in on purchase of equipment required to operate a "Sanitary Land FiU".
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by
Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the meeting adjourn, and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe,
Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none.
