City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, January 21, 1953 at 1.00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Seoor. Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, City Manager Henderson. City Attorney Lovelaoe and the Clerk when the followmg prooeedings were had; I Minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seoonded by Commissioner Lowe, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Seoor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none. Appointment of Board Members The Mayor announoed the reappointment of the following mElll.bers to various City Boards: Recreation: Mrs. Henry G088ack term expires January l. 19661" Mrs. Amelia Hammer term expires January 1. 1956 Mr.1toy Ayres term expires January 1. 1956 Mrs. M. G. Burlingame term expires January 1, 1955 ,- Mr. John Shively term expires January 1, 1955 Cemetery: Library: It was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seoonded by Commissioner Erwin. that the appointments be approved and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Seoor. Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none. Reports The following reports were presented; Plumbing Inspector for the months of November and December, 1952 I Building Inspector for the months of November and Deoember. 1952 Director of Finanoe for the month of December, 1952 and the annual report of the Building Inspector and the Plumbing Inspector. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe. that the reports be aooepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following ~e and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Seoor. Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. Application for Beer License The application of the Park Ioe & Cold Storage for a wholesale beer lioense was presented and read. It was moTed by Commissioner Lowe, seoonded by Comndssioner Erwin, that the application be approved and the lioense issued and the motion Was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. Slaughter House Road Mrs. Lillian Gardner appeared before the Commission to ask what has been done regarding the reopening of the wSlaughter House Road-. This road was olosed in 1941 on petition of the Northern Pacific By Co.. William Nuber and A. I Springer and under an agreement with the N. P. By Co. whereby they graded, graveled and improved Cedar St~eet on the north of and parallel to their traoks from the existing "Slaughter House Road" to L Street. IIrs. Gardner was the only property owner in any way affected by the 0 losing of this road who did not agree to it being olosed. On numerous oooasions since 1941 she has made verbal protest against the road being closed. Mrs. Gardner was informed on this date that, if she presented a petition signed by a representative number of affected property owners to show reasonable cause why this road should be re-opened. the Commission would give the matter oonsideration but otherwise nothing further will be done regarding it. Fire District Adjacent to City Mr. Harold LaRue. representing the Farm Bureau, appeared before the ComBdssion to discuss the :20a 204 possibility of the City of Bozeman entering into a oontract to provide fire proteotion in a Rural Fire District if such a district was oreated to include properties adjacent to or near Bozeman. Mr. LaRue was informed that the City of Bozeman oould and would be interested in suoh a proposal but that. before any estimate or any committment could be made, it would be neoessary to have much additional information. It was suggested to Mr. LaRue that he and those interested in forming suoh and improvements. the extent of fire protection to be provided by the City, and all other pertinent I a district draw up some tentative plans. These plans should inolude the area or extent of the proposed district, value of properties in the district to show land values and values of buildings data. Based on such tentative plans, the City will be glad to work with him and his associates in working up an acceptable contract on the proposed fire proteotion.
