The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday afternoon, March 11, 1953 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Seoor,
Commissioner Lowe, Commdssioner Erwin, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelaoe and the Clerk
when the following prooeedings were had:
Minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seoonded
by Commissioner Lowe, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the follow-
ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being M~or Seoor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin;
those vo ting No, none.
Bids -- S. I. D. 367
The Manager stated this was the time and plaoe set for the opening of' bids for the laying of water
main in Speoial Improvement Distriot No. 367 on North Seventh Avenue from Durston Road to the city
limits. He presented the affidavid of publioation of the oall for bids. It was moved by Commissioner
Lowe, seoonded by Commissioner Erwin, that the bids be opened and read, and the motion was oarried by
the following Aye and No vote: those voting A:te being Mayor Seoor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner
Erwin; tho~e vot:ing No, none.
The following bids were opened and read:

It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seoonded by Commissioner Erwin, that the bids be referred to
the City Engineer for om oking and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Mayor Seoor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none.
After cheoking the bids, City Engineer Waldorf reported the bids oorrect as read, and it was
moved ~ Commissioner Lowe, seoonded by Commissioner Erwin, that the bid of Paul R. Lee be aooepted
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Seoor,
Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none.
Renewal of Lease -- F. O. E. I SLot
A renewal of the :Ie ase for the parking lot at fu e corner of Baboock and Bozeman, owned by F. O. E.
#326, was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seoonded by Commissioner Lowe, that the
Mayor am the Clerk be authorized to sign the lease for the City of BozeIll8Il, ani the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner
Erwin; those voting No, none.
Bids for Traffic Control Lights
The Manager reported the. t the specifications for traff'iccontrol lights at the corners of Main
Street and Willson Avenue, Tracy Avenue, Black Avenue and Bozeman Avenue have been completed. It was
moved ~ Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the Clerk of the Commission be
authorized to adverttse for bids for traffic control lights to be opened April 8, 1953, and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe,
Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none.
Improvements in West Fart of City
The following property owners:

from the west part of the City were present to discuss proposed improvements and costs with the City

Commission. Information prepared by the Ci~ Engineer relative to a storm sewer and paving of this
area was presented to the group. After questions and discussion, the group asked the:~ petitions be
prepared asking that a speoial improvement district be created for the installation of a storm
sswer for all of the area west of Eighth Avenue.
It was thought that paving districts could be created later after the storm sewer has been
installed for at least a year.

It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the reports be accepted
and ordered filed, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none.
Preliminary Report -- Operation of Ambulance
The Manager stated that a preliminary report from Fred Skoog, relative to the operation of the
Ci~-Coun~ Ambulance to January 1, 1953 covering a period of 26 months. shows a defioit of $261.70.
This amount has been paid Mr. Skoog from the monthly oontributions of the Ci~ and the County.
Traffic -- Mendenhall between Grand and Third
The matter of prohibiting parking on the south side of Mendenhall Street between Third Avenue
and Grand Avenue was oonsidered. It was thought that a more rigid enforcement of the traffic
ordinance by the Police Department as to "jay-walkers" would improve the problem of pedestrians
crossing in the middle of the block.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by

carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe,
Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none.
