HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953-04-01 222 Bozeman, Montana April 1, 1953 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall building, Wednesday afternoon, April 1, 1953 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin, City Manager Henderson and the Clerk when the following proceed- ings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read. and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the minutes be approved as read. and the motion was carried by the fo11ow- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none. Claims for the Month Claims Nos. 6015 to 6192 inclusive were presented on the various funds as follows: Band Cemetery Garbage General Library Park Parking Meter P. L. & P. Folice Reserve S. D. S. Revenue S. I. D. Revolving Water t 20.00 637.94 1,790.52 14.294.67 1.154.70 1.824.02 912.66 18,005.11 86.15 1.570.14 187.70 12,022.94 Tot a 1 - - - - $52.506.55 The Menager stated he has audited these claims and finds them to be true and lawful claims agai nst the City of' Bozeman and recommends that warrants be drawn for their payment. Ai'ter examination of the claims in detail by the City Commission, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commis- sioner Erwin. that the claims be approved and warrants drawn for th eir payment, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none. Report on Survey for Improvements on South Eighth Avenue Mr. Don Nash ap~eared before the Commission and reported that the results of a survey conducted by his office to determine if' property owners on South Eighth AVenue would favor improvement of this street shows that from 80% to 90% of the property owners are not in favor of improvements. Application for License -- Jaycee Carnival A communication from Joe Gary of the Junior Ch~ber of COlmnerce in the form of an application for a carnival license for the dates of July 21 through 23. 1953 to be sponsored by their organization. was read. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the application be approved subject to the payment of a fee of $100.00 per day and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none. Resignation of Harry Schreiber from Folice Force The resignation of Harry Schreiber as a member of the Police Department effective April 1, 1953 was presented and read. I'etition for S. I. D. -- Faving South 5th from Garfield to Lincoln A petition of property owners requesting the creation of a special improvement district to pave South Fifth Avenue from Garfield Street to Lincoln Street was presented end read. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the City Engineer be instructed to prepare estimates of cost and the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the resolution I I I of intention to create this district and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. Street Light -- Ida & Cottonwood The Manager reported a request for a street light at the corner of Ida AVenue and Cottonwood Street. After consideration, it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that I the City Manager be instructed to order the Montana Power Company to install a street light at this intersection and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Seoor. Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none. Fublic Hearing -- Increase in Telephone Rates A notice announcing a public hearing to be held in Helena. April 27th. 1953 regarding increased telephone rates was presented and read. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time. it was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the meeting adjourn, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Secor.
