The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room. City Hall
building. Wednesday afternoon. May 20. 1953 at 1:00 o'clock F. M. Present were Mayor Secor.
Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin. City Manager Henderson. City Attorney Lovelace end the Clerk
when the following proceedings were had:
Minutes of tile last regular session were read. and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded
by Commissioner Erwin. that the minutes be arproved as read. and the motion was carried by the follow-
lng Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin;
those voting No. none.
Budget for Health Office
A proposed budget for the operation of the County-City Health Unit for the coming fiscal year was
presented. The City Commission stated that. from all available information. the City of Bozeman will
continue to contribute the same amount of money for the coming fiscal year as was contributed during
the past fiscal year.
Fireman Nelson on Disabled Status
A communication from Nels Nelson. Fireman. who has had a leave of absence until June 1, 1953 was
read stating he is permanently disabled and will be unable to resume his duties as a regular member of
the Fire Department.
Furchase of Concrete Saw
The Manager stated that. in connection with the installation of traffic lights and cutting pavements
for water end sewer connections. a concrete saw costing approximately $675.00 for making these cuts could
be used to good advantage. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the
City Manager be authorized to order such a saw on a trial basis. and that; if the saw proves satisfactory.
it be purchased. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Secor. Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none.
Meter Charge for Irrigating Vacant Lots
The matter of the meter rate to be charged for irrigating gardens on vacant lots was discussed.
It was moved by Commiss ioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Lowe. that the meter rate for gardens on
vacant lots be the same as the charge for gardens where there is a residence. and the motion was
oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Lowe.
Comndssioner Erwin; those voting No. none.
Froposed FlattinG South of Lincoln and East of 1'hird
A proposed plat of ground. adjoining the city at Lincoln Street and lying east of Third Avenue
South. projected. and the C. M. & St. F. Ry. right of way. was presented by Bruce Mecklenberg. Walter
Mecklenberg and Mr. Kayser. Land Surveyor from Livingston. were present to discuss the proposed plat
in detail. These men were informed that. if a completed plat in accordance with the proposed plat
and a petition to have this tract incorporated in the city were presented. they would be approved by
the City Corr~ission.
Fetition for 4-Way Stop
A petition of citizens, residing in the area near the intersection of North Tracy Avenue and
Peach Street. requesting that a four-way stop be created at that intersection, was -presented. Action
on this matter was deferred pending the traffic survey which is to be conducted jointly by the State
Highway Department and the City in July and development of the over-all traffic plan which will be
worked out from that survey.

Resolution No. 379 -- Intention to Create S. I. D. No. 373.
The City Attorney as instructed has prepared the resolution of intention to create Special
Improvement District No. 373, storm sewer to serve the west part of the City. Resolution No. 739
was presented, entitled:

TO BE KNOWN AND DESIGNATED AS "SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 373" OF THE CITY OF
BOZEMAN FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING AND INST .ALLING A STORM S~R SYSTEM IN CERTAIN
AREAS IN THE WEST FORTION OF BOZEMAN, SAID SYSTEM TO INCLUDE AN OUTLET LINE ALONG
RLEVENTH AVENUE WHICH WILL ALSO CARRY THE CREEK WATERS NOW CARRIED EVAN OPEN CHANNEL
ALONG ELmENTH AVEJI'UE, AND TO SPECIALLY ASSESS THE COST OF SUCH CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALLA-
TION AGAINST THE FROPERTY WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF SAID SPEC IAL IMfROVEMENT DISTRICT SO
CR1<~ATED ON AN AREA BASIS, PURSUANT TO THE STATUTES IN SUCH CASES MADE AND PROVIDED.
It was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the resolution be
passed and adopted and June 17th. 1953 be set as the date for hearing protests and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commi ssioner Lowe.
Commissioner Erwin; thOSe voting No. none.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time. it was moved by
Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the meeting adjourn, and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner
Erwin; those voting No. none.
