HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953-05-27 240 Bozeman, Montana May 27, 1953 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall building, Wednesday afternoon, May 27, 1953 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Secor, Cornmissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk when the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last rer;ular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, tha1\. the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. Confirmation of Firemen It was stated that the following; members of the :Fire Department are eligible to receive the bene!'i ts of the Bozeman Fire Department Relief Association, and should be confirmed as regular members of the Bozeman Fire Department: Herbert Hoey, Jr. Charles E. Masten William Johnson It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Comrnissioner Erwin, that these three members be confirmed as members of the Fire Department, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. Agreement for Gaging Station An agreement between The City of Bozeman and the U. S. G. S. for the operation and maintenance of the Gaginc Station on the East Gallatin River for a one year period was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seoonded by Commissioner Erwin, that the City Manager beauthorhed to siiT,n the agreement for The City of Bozeman and the motion wes carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those votin~ No, none. Courtesy Tickets for Out of Town Cars The matter of courtesy tickets for cars from out of town which have over parked in the parking meter zone was discussed. After consideration, the Commission stated they could see no reason for a change in the present poli cy of ti cketinr; viola tors of over-time parkine:. :Farkini; New Greyhound Bus The Manager reported that he has given permission to the Greyhound Lines, Inc., to park their new bus for public inspection at the taxi stand and loading zone on North Willson on the afternoon of June 8th, 1953 from 4:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. The Commission expressed approval of this action. Liabili GY Insurance for :Flaygrounds and Swimming; rool The Manager stated tha-c the liability insurance for the playgrounds in the amount of $5,000.00 - $10,000.00, and for the Swimming Fool in the amount of $10,000.00 - $20,000.00, expires in June, 1953. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the City Manager be authorized to renew these }.olicies for the same amount of coverage for another year, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. Permission to Cut Curb 6 South Church A request from O. E. Keyes, Jr. to cut the curb for an additional entrance to the building at 6 South Church Avenue was considered. It was moved by Con@issioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that permission to cut the curb at this address for this }Jurpose be granted, end the motion was carried by the following A,ye and No vote: those votint': Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Brwin; those votinE No, none. I I I Care of Lots at Cemetery Discontinued if Care Unpaid It was reported that, at a meeting of the Cemetery Board helc on May 21st, 1953, the Board directed that, after Memorial Day, 1953, care on lots will not be provided unless the annual care has b,aen paid or the lots have permanent care. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that this action of the I Cemetery Boa rd be approved and the motion was carried by the foIl owing Aye and No vote: those votinE Aye bei ng Mayor Secor, Commiss ioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those votin[~ No, none. Fayment to Employees on Force Account for Holidays Fallin[ on Saturdays the Manager reported that the agreement with city employees bein9; paid by the hour is that these employees will be paid for sh: holidays during the year. It was stated that these employees work one-half day on Saturday, and the question of paying for a full day on Saturday if the holiday comes on that day was discussed. It was moved by COlTllllissioner Erwin, seconded by COlTllllissioner Lowe, that, when any of the paid holide,ys fall on Saturday, employees being paid by the hour be paid for a full day, and the motion was carded by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye beinE Mayor Secor, Gommissi oner Lowe, COlTlllliss ioner Erwin; those voting No, none.
