HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953-07-29 264 Bozeman, Montana July 29, 1963 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall building, Wednesday afternoon, July 29, 1963 at 1:00 o'clock F. M. Present Were Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, City Manager Henderson and the Cle rk when the following prooeedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, the. t the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the [0110w- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. Preliminary Report on Cash Recovery in Henry Case The City Manager gave a verbal preliminary report on the cash recovery made so far in the Henry case. He reported that on July 28th. 1963. $60,953.28 had been deposited in the Commercial National Bank and also gave an estimated amount of further recoveries. Application for Transfer of Beer License An application from Arcade. Inc., for a transfer of the City Beer License from The Arcade to Arcade, Inc., was presented and read. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the ap~lication be approved and the transfer made. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. Communication from Optimist Club. Re: Soap Box Derby A communication from the Optimist Club was read, stating their appreciation to the City of Bozeman for the help and assistance given in making the 1953 Soap Box Derby a success. Directional Signs to Montana State College Representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and Montana State College have requested permission to place directional signs pointing to Montana State College at several intersections on either lamp posts, stop sign posts or street marking sign posts. The Commission stated that if tile signs were of satisfactory quality there would be no objection. State Gas Tax Refund An application to the State Board of Equalization for a refund on the state gasoline tax in the amount of $673.68 was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the Mayor and the City Manager be authorized to sign the cla im for such refund, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin) those voting No, none. A~pointment of Howard Nelson to Airport Board Mayor Secor announced the apl'ointment of Howard Nelson as one of the city members on the Gallatin Field Board for a three-year term expiring July 31st, 1966. It waS moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the appointment be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. Folice for Softball Tournament A request from the Softball Association for police service at the district tournament was reported. It was decided that. if special police services are furnished at the tournament the Softball Association should pay for that service, but that police would be available to control traffic and could be called in case of any disturbanoes. I I Continuation of Appointment Re: M. E. Henderson, City Manager Helen Morrison, Office Clerk & Assistant Water Collector To make it a matter of official record for the purpose of renewal of official bonds. it was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the appointment of M. E. Henderson as City Manager and Helen Morrison as Office Cle rk and Assistant Water Collector be continued for an indefinite period. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting I ~e being Mayor Seoor. Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time. it was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the meeting adjourn. and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor.
