HomeMy WebLinkAbout1952-08-20 158 Bozeman. Montana August 20. 1952 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room. City Hall Building. Wednesday Afternoon. August 20. 1952 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Secor. Commissioner Erwin. Commissioner Lowe. City Manager Henderson. City Attorney Lovelace. and the Clerk when the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read. and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded I by Commissioner Erwin. that the minutes be approved as read. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Medical-Hospital Insurance for City Employees City employees now have Blue Shield-Blue CrosB Medical-Hospital insurance, but because of a split of these two organizations. numerous life insurance companies have presented plans for group medical- hospital insurance, but in each case the life insurance company required a contract with the City of Bozeman and a payment of a portion of the premium by the City. The City Commission stated that if by city participation in the payment of the premium. the employees could get a better and more complete coverage, they would favor payment of a portion of the monthly premium by the city. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the City Commission will enter into an agreement for group medical-hospital insuranoe, with a payment of a minimum of $1.00 per month per employee. and that a committee. representing each operating department of the City. study plans submitted, and have a recommendation of the plan they favor for the next meeting 0 f the City Commission. and the motion was carried by the following AYe and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor I Secor. Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No. none. Truck By-Pass A communication from the State Highway Commission was read stating that in order to have a truck route or by-pass constructed by the Highway Commission. one of the first steps would be to request the proposed by-pass be placed on the primary system. and the present U. S. No. 10 be placed on the urban system. Charges for Water Analysis A letter from the State Board of Health was read. explaining the increase in the cost of water sample analysis, and also giving rates charged to other cities in Montana. Bond of Tobin -- Misc. W & C 1952 The bond of A. Tobin for the construction of Misc. W & C 1952 was presented. The bond was approved as to fonn by the City Attorney. It. was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the bond be approved and accepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those vo ting No. none. Reports ,.."".......- The following reports for the month of July. 1952 were presented: I Recreation Director Director of Finance and the annual report for the Recreation Director. It was moved by Conunissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: thos e vo ting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No. none. Results of Fluoridation Joll The Manager announced the following results of the postcard poll of water users in regard to t5~J fluoridating the ci~ water supply. In favor of fluoridating the water supplies . . 840 Opposed to fluoridating the water supplies . . 304 Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time. it was m?ved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Lowe. that the meeting adjourn and the motion was I carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor.
