HomeMy WebLinkAbout1952-11-19 18R Bozeman, Montana November 19, 1952 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in re!';ular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Buildine~, Wednesday afternoon, November 19, 1952 at 1.00 o'clock f. M. Fresent were Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, City Manager Henderson and the CIe rk when the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded I by Commissioner Lowe, that the minutes be approved as read, and the moti.on was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote: those votinE Aye bein~ Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting; No, none. Request to Fly Planes at Low Elevation A request from Kenneth L. Sullivan and Lou Napton as Chairman of Chamber of Commerce committees on Christmas Trade Fromotion, was read. The request was for a permit for the Lynch Flyinr: Service to fly f:Jur or more airplanes over Main Street on November 28, 1952 at an elevation of 300 feet as a promotion feature in connection with the ofn cial 01 ening of the Christmas celebra.tion in Bozeman. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the request be granted subject to the approval of all Federal and CAA and State Aeronautical Authorities, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being; Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. Manager to Billings & Great Falls The matter of checkinp; traffic problems and installation of traffic control signals in Billings and Great Fells as a source of information relative to proposed installation of new traffic control s iEnal s in Bozeman was discussed. I It was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner lkwin, that the City Manager be authorized to go to Billinr;s and Great Falls to confer wi th city officials regarding these matters and that, it being in the public interest, his expenses for such travel be paid from the general fund ~ld the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye beinp; Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. Insurance Adjustment on Tank Explosion E. C. Lenke, Insurance Adjuster with the General Adjusting: Bureau, Butte, Montana, met with the Commission to discuss settlement of claims arising from the explosion of an oil storage tank in the city yards on September 22, 1952. He made a verbal offer, for the insurer of the F. L. Dye Co. to pay one half of the damage to all properties outside the city yards, an amount of $573.57, and, for the insurers of the City of Bozeman, to pay for the tank which was destroyed, an amount of $750.00. Mr. Lenke was requested to put these proposals in writing and the me. tter was taken under advisement pending receipt of such wri tten proposals.
