M. Present were Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, City Manager Henderson. Commissioner Erwin; those votini: No, none. Offer of General Adjus bnent Bureau. Re~ Oil Tank Explosion A written of fer from the General Adjustment Bureau of Butte was read 0 fferi n[: to pay 50;9; of th e cost of damages caused by the explosion of the oil tank in the ci ty ya rds on September 22. 1952. They contended the t the city should contribute 50% of the cost of damages because it did not frovide proper methods of testinr the tank as to the amount of oil it contained and did not inform the employee who was making the repairs that the tank did not contein sufficient oil in it to test it safely with heat. After consideration, the City Commi ss ion instructed the City Attorney to write the Adjustment Bureau and inform them the City of Bozeman does not feel that they have any responsibility in the pay- ment of these damages and to demand th at the insurers pay for tl1 e damages in full. Offer to Sell Lot for Parking A wri tten offer was presented from Mrs. T. J. Sander in which she proposed to sell a tract at th e corner of Fifth Avenue end Babcock Street to the City for $5,000.00, the tract to be used as a parkin::,:" lot. The tract is 50' X 130'. It was considered that the tract is too small to make its development I as a. parkin?; lot practical end that traffic and parking conditions in that area are not such es to warrant this proF-osed investment. The City Manager was instructed to wri te to Mrs. Sander to info rm her that her offer is declined. After consi.deration of the rroblem, the City ManHp::er was instructed to rrerare rroposed and tentRtive plans and specifications for installation of four, rost mounted, three section, two-way, traffic control sirnals at each of the intersections of Main Street with Bozeman, BlaCk, Tracy end Willson Avenues and to send SlJch tentative llans and specifications to General Electric Company,Westinghouse 192 Electric Company.
