HomeMy WebLinkAbout1952-02-20 t07 Bozeman, Montana F'ebruary 20, 1952 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, February 20, 1952 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace, and the Clerk when the following proceedings were had: 1 Minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carri ed by the follow- ine Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowei those voting No, none. Flan for Conoco Station on College Street at lOth Approved A ground plan of a proposed service station to be constructed by the Continental Oil Company on College Street at Tenth Avenue was presented. The plan showed two driveways to enter the station from College Street and one to enter from Tenth Avenue. It was the opinion of the Commission that one of the proposed driveways from College Street shown on the plan would not be necessary and that the station platform should have a curb between it and the sidewalk along College Street. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that, subject to these two recommenda- tions, the plan as submitted be tentatively approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowei those vot ing No, none. Bids for Library Lighting Recommendation of the Library Board for the installation of modern lighting in the Library base- I ment was considered. The estimated cost of the ~roject is approximately $1,200.00. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the Cle rk of the Commission be authorized to advertise for bids for the lighting, bids to be opened March 12th, 1952, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. MSC Buildings Fermitted to Connect to Sewer & Water The Manager reported that Montana State College is building new greenhouses and a new veterinary laboratory on the campus but on the west side of Eleventh Avenue so that these buildings will be outside the city limits. The policy of not permitting buildings outside the city limits to connect to the city water and sewer system was discussed. After consideration, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin that, because of the nature of the institution, the policy be amended to permit all buildings on the campus of Montana State College to be connected to the water and sewer system provided they comply with all city rules and regulations, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowei those voting No, none. Report 1 The report of the Director of Finance for the month of January, 1952 was presented. It was - moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the report be accepted and ordered filed and the motion wa.s carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Communication Re Clyde Beatty Circus A communication from the Clyde Beatty Circus asking information relative to showing in Bozeman during the month of July was read. ReI_ort on Meetings The City Manager reForted on the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Montana Municipal lOR League, held at Butte on February 16th, and on the meeting of the Bozeman Creek Reservoir Company, held at the City Hall on February 18, 1952. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe 1 and Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none. a~ Attest: ~f~ion I 1
