HomeMy WebLinkAbout1952-03-05 110 Bozeman, Montana March 5, 1952 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, March 5, 1952 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin. City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace, and the Clerk when the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded 1 by Commissioner Lowe. that the minutes be approved as read. and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Claims for the Month Claims Nos. 3180 to 3373 inclusive were presented on the various funds as follows: Band $ 139.45 Cemetery 805.85 Garbage 1.622.78 General 13.197.53 Library 1, 110.46 Park 1.381.50 Parking Meter 1,004.70 P. L. & P. 20.45 Police [-{eserve 86.15 s. D. S. Revenue 1, 899.17 W-H Tax 1,693.50 Water 3,754.76 Total - - - $26.716.32 The Manager stated that he has audited these claims and finds them to be true and lawful claims against the City of Bozeman and recommends that warrants be drawn for their payment. After examina- tion of the claims in detail by the City Commission, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the claims be apfroved and warrants drawn for their payment, and the motion I was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Corrunissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No. none. Appointment to City Boards Mayor Secor announced the following appointments to the various city boards: Recreation Board: Mrs. Elizabeth Johnston term to expire January 1. 1955 Ed Chauner term to expire January 1. 1955 Cemetery Board: Mrs. Elizabeth Plew term to expire January 1. 1955 Frank Messmer term to expire January 1, 1955 Fred Willson term to expire January 1, 1955 Library Board: Mrs. G. Y. Patten term to expire January 1. 1954 Mrs. Edna T. White term to eXf ire January 1, 1954 Police Commission: Henry Gay term to expire May 1. 1955 It was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the appointments be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No. none. Reports The following reports for the month of February, 1952 were presented: 1 Fi re Ch ief Librarian Cemetery Board Cashier Sanitary Inspector Sewage Plant Operator Police Judge Water Collector Recreation Director It was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: thoo e voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No. none. Taxi Stand on North Willson Discontinued The Chief of Police. after several weeks of observation. reports that the taxi stand on North tIt Willson at the Baxter Hotel is very seldom used, and it is his recormnendation that it be discontinued. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe~ seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the City Manager be instructed to notify the City Taxi Company that it is the intention of the City to discontinue this taxi stand and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No. none. 1 Petition to Rezone "E" District A petition, signed by seventeen owners of property in the district, was presented to request that all the area south of Main Street and west of Fourth Avenue, which is now a "B" Residence District, be re-zoned and made an "A" Residence District. In view of the large area in this district. the comparatively small number of signers on the petition, and the many points which should be considered before changin~ the classification of such a large area, it was decided that no action should be taken on the petition at this time. Record of Title to Water The City Manager presented a record of title to water rights owned by the City of Bozeman which has been prepared by Lewis A. Cowan of the Gallatin Abstract Company. Warning Signal at N. F. Crossing Following out recommendations of the City of Bozeman. the Northern Pacific Railway Company advises that they have completed installation of warning signals at their main line crossing on Wallace Avenue.
