HomeMy WebLinkAbout1952-03-19 114 Bozeman, Montana March 19, 1952 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, March 19, 1952 at 1:00 o'clock F. M. Present were Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, City Manager Henderson, and the Clerk when the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded 1 by Commissioner Erwin, that the mjnutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No va te: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner ~rwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Bids for Lighting at Library Bids were received on March 12th for installing new wiring and lighting fixtures on the lower floor of the Bozeman Public Library and were referred to the City Engineer for checking and to the Library Board for their recommendation. The bid of the F. L. Dye Company, in the amount of $1,068,.00 having been found to be the lowest and best bid, it was recommended by the Library Board that it be accepted. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that, subject to the terms of the plans and specifications, the bid of the F. 1. Dye Company be acceI-,ted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commiss ioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those vo ting No, none. Irrigation Rate for City Schools Mr. John Shively, Superintendent of Schools, has made inquiry regarding securing; a special irriga- tion rate for city schools during summer months. After examination of water bills, charges, and rates during the irrigating season for the city schools, it was considered that the enount they pay is not I out of line with rates paid by other large users. Taxi Stand at Will son &: Main 'The request of Fred Skoog, City 'faxi Lines, for the continuance of the taxi stand at Willson and Main Street for another 90 days trial period was given further consideration and the request granted. School Crossing Zone at College and Tenth A written request from the Student Housing Governing Council of Montana State College requesting a safety zone on College Street between 9th Avenue and 11th Avenue, to assist school children crossing College Street was read. It was pointed out that there is no sidewalk on the south side of College Street on the Montana State College campus nor on the north side of' College Street between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner E~in, that the City Manager be instructed to confer with Montana State Colle ge officials to have them construct a temporary sidewalk along the south side of College Street, between Tenth and Eleventh AVenues and that the Manager be authorized to establish a school cros sing on College Street at Tenth Avenue, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Adjournmen t 1 There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting, Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe and Commis- s ioner Erwin; those voting No, none. ~~~ .
