The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday afternoon, March 26, 1952 at 1:00 o'clock F. M. Present were Mayor Secor,
Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace. and the Clerk
when the following proceedings were had:
1 Minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded
by Commissioner Erwin, tha t the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was ca rried by the
followin~ Aye and No vote: those voting Aye beinG Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner
Lowe; those voting No, none.
Bond &: Contract - Library Wiring
The bond and contract of the F. 1. Dye Company for installing new lights and wirinp; on the
lower floor of the Library were presented. The bond and contract were aI: rroved as to form by the
City Attorney. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissi one I' Lowe, tha t the bond and
contract be an_roved and the Mayor and Clerk of the Commission be authorized to sirn the contract for
the City of Boz eman and the moti on was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Ave
being Mayor Secor, Comnissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Delegates to A. W. W. A. and Sewage Association MeetinGs
The Manager announced the annual meeting of the Montana Section of the A. W. W. A. and the
Montana Sewap;e Works Association to be held in Billings April 10, 11, and 12, 1952. It was moved by
Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe. that it beinr in the public interest, City Manager
Henderson, City Eng:ineer Waldorf, Water Superintenuent Border and Sewage Plant Operator Anderson be
I authorized to attend this meeting and their expenses be paid from the S. D. S. Revenue ro d We tel' Funds,
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those votin~ Aye being Mayor Secor,
Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Purchase of' Roed Oil from Highway Department
The followil1{j resolution was presented:

WHEREAS the City of Bozeman will have need during 1952 for road oils for use in
repei ring streets and for sealing certain sections of existing pavement wi thin the
Ci ty. and
YfPEREAS the City of' Bozeman does not have prope I' facilities for handlinv, and
storine: the needed quantities of such oils, and
WHERBAS the Montana State Highway Department does have storaiCe facilities and
normally does have quantities of the required types of oils stored in Bozeman from
which it can supply the quantities needed by the City of Bozeman,
NOW, THF.REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
That an emergency does exist relative to the procurement of road oils by the
Ci ~v of Bozeman and the City Ma.nager is hereby authorizedbo purchase from the Montana
State Highway Department, from its stocks in storage in Bozeman, a.PF,roximately twenty
fi ve thousand (25.000) gallons of road oil. this to be purchased from time to time dur-
ing the ye ar , 1952, as needed by the City of Bozeman for repai r and sealing of existi!1E
pavements, and these quanti ties of road oilato be purchased at cost plus normal
1 handling charges.
Passed and adopted by the City Commission of Bozeman, Montana, at a regular meet-
ing of said Commission held on the 26th day of' March, 1952.

passed and adopted f.I1 d the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Use of Steam Cleaning Equipment owned by Montana State Highway Department
The following resolution was presented:

WHEREAS the City of Bozeman owns and orerates equipment, including road graders, 1
trucks and other machines, for maintenance of its streets, water utility, and other
city governmental functions, and
WHEREAS there is need from time to time to steam clean some of this equipment so
that it can be painted or otherwise properly maintained. and
WHEREAS the Ci~ of Bozeman has no facilities for stearn cleaning its equipment,
and
lJIlHEREAS, the Montana State Highway Department does have facilities established
in BozellRn for steam cleaning trucks and other heavy equipment. and
WHEREAS the District Ma intenance Eng ineer of the Montana state Highway Department
in Bozeman has indicated that it will be possible to steam clean equipment owned by
the City of Bozeman in the facilities owned by the MOntana State HiF,hway Department at
times when those facilities are not being used by that Department;
NOW, TH@'EFDRE, BB IT RESOLVED:
That the City Manager of the City of Bozeman is hereby authorized to verbally
contract from time to time, as needed. with the District Maintenance Engineer. Montana
State HiEhway Department in Bozeman, to have equipment. owned by the City of Bozeman,
steam cl eaned in the radli ties owned by the Montana State Highway Department and that,
for any such services received. the City of Bozeman will pay the Montana State Highway
Department on the basis of labor and equipment rental cost plus normal overhead charges.
Passed and adopted by the City Commission of Bozeman, Montana, at a regular meet-
ing of said Commission held on the 26th day of March. 1952.

furchase of Additional Street Markers
The Manager reconunended that in line with the street markinp; prol.'".ram started in 1948 there should
be approximately 25 additional street intersections at which street marking signs of the same kind
should be erected this year. Quotation on these signs at $12.35 F. O. B. factory each per unit has
been received from the Grote Manufacturing Company from Belleyue, Kentucky.
It was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner E~in, that the City Manager be
authorized to purchase not to exceed twenty-five street marking units to be installed this season. and

the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Cormnis-
sioner E~in and Co~nissioner Lowe; those voting No. none.
