The Commission of theCi ty of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commi88ion Room~ City Hall
Bullding~ Wednesday afternoon~ June 11, 1952 at hOO 0' clock F. M. Present were Kayor Secor~
Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner E~in~ City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace, and the Clerk
when the following proceedings were had:
I Minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded
by Commissioner Lowe, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the follow-
ing Aye and No votes those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner lowe;
those voting No~ none.
Agreement for Operation of Gaging Station
A renewal of the cooperative agreement between the City of Bozeman and the U. S. G. S. for the
operation of' the gaging station near the sewage plant was presented. The agreement being upon the
same terms as last year, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the
City Manager be authorized to sign the agreement for the City of' Bozeman, and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No votes those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and
Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Purohase of Mower
The Manager explained the need for a new mowing machine, and stated that prices quoted on a new
maohine would require the advertising for bids. He reported that a Fordson tractor with mowing
machine attachment has been tried out and appears to be in good shape and oan be purchased for $850.00.
This machine oan also be used for plowing snow and can be put into immediate use. The Manager
I recommended the purchase of this machine and stated this was also the recommendation of the Street
Superintendent. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the City
Manager be authorized to purchase this tractor and mowing machine and the motion was oarried by the
following Aye and No vote: those voting ~e being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner
Lowe; those voting No, none.
Cleaning of South Settling Basin
The Manager reported that high water this spring has filled the settling basin at the south side
water intake with gravel, and it will be necessary to hire a drag line to clean this gravel out.
Reports
The following reports for the month of May, 1962 were presented.
Building Inspector Pol ice Judge Cashier
Recreation Director Water Colleotor
and the report of the Water Colleotor for the month of April, 1952. It was moved by Commissioner
Erwin, seoonded by Commissioner Lowe. that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner
Erwin and Commissioner Lowe} those voting No~ none.
I The City Kanager reported on the meeting of the Montana Municipal League held in Butte, Montana.
Meeting of International City Managers' Association
The Clerk read an invitation to the City ,of Bozeman to be represented by their Manager at the
annual oonference of the International City Managers' Assooiation to be held in Kansas City~ Missouri
September 28th to October 2nd, 1952. The City Manager was instructed to get information on estimated
expenses for attendance to this meeting.
N. f. Driveway
A communication from R. H. Morrow, Northern Facific Agent, was read stating the repair or

replaoement of the old seotion of the driveway at their freight offioe and depot would be taken care
of as soon as labor and materials were available.
Improvement of Veterans' Block at Cemetery
A oommittee composed of Howard Nelson. Rod Kippen,R. E. Seitz and Frank Grundkowski. representing
Veterans organizations. appeared and asked that the blook in the oemetery south of Blook 36, whioh i8
reserved as a Veterans' Memorial, be improved by grading and seeding, the flag pole moved to this I
blook and plans made to have the annual Memorial Day services on this Block. They were informed this
improvement would be taken up with the Sexton and the Block put in shape and seeded.
Budget for 1952-53
The Manager reported that from present estimated budget figures the proposed inoreases in salaries
and wages could be met with leas than one mill increase in taxes in the General Fund. He was instructed
by the Commission to continue the preparation of the annual budget on this basis.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by
Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Lowe and
Commissioner Erwin; those voting No. none.
