HomeMy WebLinkAbout1952-06-18 139 Bozeman, Montana June 18, 1952 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, June 16, 1962 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Secor, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, City Manager Henderson and the Clerk when the following pro- ceedings were had: I Minutes of the last regular s..sion were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was oarried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Kayor Seoor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner LoweJ those voting No, none. Conoco Station -- lOth & College Plans of a proposed Conooo service station to be built at the corner of Tenth and College Street were presented. After examination of the plans, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded ~ ComDdssioner Erwin, that they be approved subjeot to elimination of the west driveway on College Street and a curb being oonstructed between the deck and the sidewalk on the College Street side, and the motion was carried by the following ~e and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe) those voting NQ, none. Manager to International City Managers' Association Meeting The Manager, having been instructed at the last regular meeting to secure an estimate of what the expense would be for his attendance at the annual meeting of the International City Managers' Association at Kansas City, Mo., September 28 - October 2, 1962, reported that the expense would be approximately $225.00. I After consideration. it was moved b1 Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin that, it being in the public interest, the City Manager be authorized to attend this conference and his expenses be paid from the General Fund, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No votel those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Miscellaneous W & C 1952 A petition of owners of property abutting the south side of Alderson Street, between Third Avenue and Eighth Avenue, was presented. The City Commission had, on Kay 7, 1952, ordered new sidewalks to be built along these properties. The petitioners requested that, in view of their heavy expense for pavement installed on this street two years ago and of other circumstances involved, time for required installation of this sidewalk be deferred for one year. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the request of the petitioners be granted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting ~e being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Opening Alley in Block CJ Original Townsite Mr. Earl Dawes, of the Bozeman Board of Realtors, and Hal Wheat of the Civic Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Commerce appeared before the Commi.sion in the interest of having an alley opened in I Block C of the Original Townsite from Bozeman Avenue to Rouse Avenue. Maps showing the proposed open- ing were presented and examined. Difficulties in opening such an alley were discussed, and the representatives were informed that this matter would be given oonsideration. Group Medical Insurance Representatives of New York Life Insurance Company were present and presented quotations on group medical insurance for city employees. They stated contact would be made with city employees regarding their desire to join the New York Life Company plan. t40 Reports The following reports for the month of May, 1952 were presented: Cemetery Board Sanitary Inspeotor Direotor of Finance and the State Examiner's report of examination of Fire Relief Funds. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the reports b. aocepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being I Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Claim - Marshall-Wells Co. Claim No. 4008 of Marshall-Wells Company on the Water Fund in the amount of $310.28 was presented. The claim being subject to a 2% cash discount, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commis- sioner Erwin, that the claim be approved and warrant drawn for its payment and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commissioner Erwin and Commis- sioner Lowe; those voting No. none. Release of Flumbing & Gas Fitter's Bond A request for a release of the Master Plumber's bond and Gas Fitter's bond of Cissel and Anderson was presented. Cissel and Anderson are no longer doing business in Bozeman. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Lowe that, subject to the approval of the form of release by the City Attorney, the bond be released as of July 1st, 1962, and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Secor. Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Renewal of Liability Policies for Flaygrounds Policies renewing the city's liability insurance at the Swimming Pool. South Side and Bogert I Park playgrounds were presented. It waS moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the policies be approved. subject to the approval of the policies a8 to form by the City Attorney. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No votel those voting Aye being Mayor Secor, Commi.sioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Seoor, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Erwin; those voting No, none.
