City Commission Members,
I would like to voice my concern for the potential new limits imposed on short term rental properties.
From what I have been reading in the paper, it sounds as though the main concern is short term rental properties
overrunning a neighborhood, and the neighborhood loosing its community feel.
I feel as though this is far fetched. I don't believe there will be enough short term rentals to destroy a
community's integrity. From strictly an investment standpoint, the return of a short term rental is not of enough
significance to prefer it over a long term rental. After dealing with all the added expense of a short term rental,
you don't net enough extra to make it worth your time. I don't foresee people getting rich with the use of short
term rentals, and thus more of them overrunning a community.
The way in which short term rentals do work for a property owner is he/she lives there part time. The ability to
rent out a property while traveling can help offset the costs of travel. To limit this would be stifling the
individual's pursuit of economic security.
I would prefer to see neighborhood HOA's deal with this concern, rather than it be imposed by the city.
Kind Regards,
