HomeMy WebLinkAbout1951-08-08 50 Bozeman, Montana August 8, 1951 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, August 8, 1951 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor, C ommissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson,Ci ty Attorney Lovelace and the Cle rk when the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner He~y, seconded by Commissioner Secor, that the minutes be aF,proved as read, and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Claims for the Month Claims Nos. 1603 to 1650, 1652 to 1661, and 1710 to 1851B were presented on the various f~nds as Tollows: Yi &; C 1951 (BondS) $ 2700.00 Band $ 1,220.69 Cemetery 579.47 Cemetery Permanent Care 4,440.00 Cemetery Suspense 140.00 Garbage 174.55 General 14,874.23 Library 1,221.88 Park 3,696.02 Parking Meter 993.97 Police Reserve 86.15 SDS Revenue 5,629.72 W-H Tax 2,028.80 Water 1,836.40 T otal- $36,921.88 W&c Bonds $ 2700.00 The Manager stated he has audited these claims and finds them to be true and lawful claims against The City of Bozeman and recommends that warrants be drawn for their payment. After examination of the claims in detail by the City Commission, it was moved by Commissioner Secor, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the claims be approved and warrants drawn for their payment and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Reports The following reports for the month of July, 1951 were presented: Cashier Chief of Police Health Officer Cemetery Boa rd Building Inspector It was moved by Commissioner Secor, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Resolution No. 711. Tax Levy " The Manager stated the resolution determining the amount of tax levy to cover the budget for the fisoal year ending June 30, 1952 has been prepared. He presented Resolution No. 711, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF' THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN DETERMINllJG THE AM:)UNT OF CITY TAXES FOR ALL FURPOSES, GENERAL AND SFECIAL, TO BE LEVIED AND ASSESSED ON TAXABLE PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, STATE OF MONlrANA, FOR THE FISCAL Y3AR ENDING JUNE 30th, 1952. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor, that the resolution be passed and adopted and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Building - 106 North Bozeman A request of Jesse Bradley to build a new porch and enclose the entrance to the dwelling at 106 North Bozeman located in Fire Zone No. 2 was presented. It was pointed out this proposed improvement would not increase the present hazard to other buildings and would be an improvement to the property. The City I I I 51 Manager was instructed, as Building Inspector, to issue a permit to Mr. Bradley for this improvement. Building 221 East Mendenhall An application of Roy Cattrell to build an addition on the west side of the dwelling at 221 East Mendenhall located in Fire Zone No. 2 was presented. It was pointed out that an addition that would ~/;f{ be three feet from the west property line should be of one-hour :fire resistant material, and it was I decided that unless the improvement is constructed as required, the permit be refused. Application for City License -- Harold's Studio lhe application of Harold's Studio, Billings, Montana, for a one-half year's city license was presented and read. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor, that the issuing of the license be withheld pending further investigation, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. SIecHications for Fluoride tion The Manager reported the specifications for the installation of fluoridation equipment for the City water supply would be complete within the near future and a call for bids could then be advertised. Easement -- West Trunk Sewer -- Nikles The right-of-way easement for the West Trunk Sewer to cross the property of Alfred Nikles was presented. The easement was approved as to form by the City Attorney. It was moved by Commissioner Secor, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the Mayor and the Clerk of the Commission be aut10rized to sign the easament for the City of Bozeman, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. I Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Secor, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the meeting adjourn, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being; Mayor Lowe, Comrniss ioner Secor and Commissioner HealYJ those voting No, none.
