HomeMy WebLinkAbout1951-08-22 56 Bozeman, Montana August 22, 1951 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, August 22, 1951 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Seoor, Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelaoe and the Clerk when the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the regular session of August 15, 1951 and the speoial session of August 20, 1951 were read. It was moved by Cormnissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Seoor, that the minutes be apf-roved as read, and tl'e motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Permission for Shooting Exhibition The Manager reForted the. t a shooting exhibition, sponsored by the Remington Arms Company, is proposed to be held at the Fair Grounds, August 29th, 1951. Ordinances of this City prohibit the dis- charge of fire arms within the city limits without special authority. It was moved by Commissioner Seoor, seoonded by Commissioner Healy, that authority be granted for the discharging of fire arms for this exhibition and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Performance Bond of Haggerty-Messmer Company -- West Trunk Sewer The performance bond of Haggerty-Messmer Company for the construction ot; the West Sanitary Trunk Sewer together with the Railroad Contractual Liability Endorsement for the railroad crossings were presented. The bond and the endorsement were approved as to form by the City Attorney. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seoonded by Commissioner Secor, that the Bond and the Endorsement be approved and aooepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Comndssioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Tour of Health and Sanitation Methods The Manager reported that, in conneotion with the 4H Conferenoe to be held at the College, August 29th, 1951, tours will be conducted for the delegates to points of interest covering health and sani ta- tion methods carried on by tr..e City. Charge for Fire Call Ro cky Canyon The Bozeman Fire Def'artment answered a fire call in Rocky Canyon on August 18, 1951. It is reported that this fire started from blastine; operations near the Bridger Club being carried on by McKinnon, Decker Co. and that request for services of the Fire Department ce.me from a representative of that company. The City Commission instructed that McKinnon. Decker Co. be billed $25,00 for the services rendered. Al-'proval of Fluoridation Equipment by State Board of Hda1 th A communication from the State Board of Heal th relative to proposed specifications for equipment for fluoridation for Bozeman's supply was read. The letter stated that the Board of Health believe that the City is approaching this problem in a practical way and hed no comments on the specifications. Since this was considered tentative afproval by the Board of Health, it was moved by Commissioner Secor, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids on this equipment, as authorized on August 15, 1951, these bids to be opened September 19, 1951 and the motion was carri.ed by the followine; Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commis- sioner Healy; those voti.ng; No, none. Population of Bozeman The Manager reported that according to recent press releases from the Bureau of Census the 1950 population of this city is 11,325. In view of this information, the City Attorney was instructed to I w-t.~~~,~~ - ~:,':,""~, I I <I prepare the necessary resolution declaring the City of Bozeman to be a City of the First Class. Amendments to Beer & Liquor License -- Increased Licenses The City Attorney was instructed to prepare amendments to the Beer and the Liquor Ordinances raising the retail license fee for the sale of beer and/or liquor to the maximum permitted by law for cities of the first class, and to raise the license fee for clubs in the same proportion. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Secor, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the meetine adjourn, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
