HomeMy WebLinkAbout1951-12-05 I I I 87 Bozeman, Montana December 5th, 1951 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, December 5th, 1951, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Present were Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor, Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor that the minutes be approved as read, and the mo- tion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. B.oO Garbage $ 152.50 It was moved by Commissioner Secor, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the applica- tions be approved and the Director of Finance be instructed to make the proper adjust- ments on the tax records, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting NO, none. Resolution No. 71B CertlfyirtgDelinquent Taxes The Manager stated the resolution certifying the delinquent city special assess- ments to the County Treasurer, together with a schedule of delinquent taxes for 1951 has been prepared. He presented Resolution No. 718, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF 'rHE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN DECLARING CERTAIN SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS AND INSTALLMEN'l'S OF SPECIAL ASSESSMEN'rS, DUE AND PA YABLE NOVEMBER 30TH, 1951, AND UNPAID AS OF 'l'HA'r DATE, AND CERTAIN OTHER SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS AND INSTALLMENTS OF SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS, DUE AND PAYABLE NOVEMBER 30TH, 1951, AND UNPAID, DELINQUENT, AS PROVIDED BY OR- DINANCE NO. 594, ENTI'rLED : "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR 'rHE COLLECTION OF TAXES xx xx AND THE COLLECTION OF SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS, xx xxx" AND SECTION 5251, POLITICAL CODE, R.C.M., 1935. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor that the resolu- tion be passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Secor; those voting No, none. Claims for the Month Claims Nos. 2551 to 2753 inclusive were presented on the various funds as follows: 88 Fund General Parking Meter Water SDS Revenue Library Park Cemetery Band Garbage Police Reserve Cemetery Suspense P. L. & P. W-H Tax Amount $ 18,125.65 933.16 4,898.61 11,445.11 1,018.00 1,117.26 695.24 21. 80 2,021.14 90.3.5 70.00 53.32 1,699.70 $ 42,189.34 The Manager stated he has audited these claims and finds them to be true and lawful claims against The City of Bo",eman, and recommends that warrants be drawn for their payment. After examination of the claims in detail by the City Commission, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor that the claims be ap- proved and warrants drawn for their payment and the motion was carried by the fol- lowing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Secor; those voting No, none. Request to Lease Portion of Dump Grounds Denied The Manager stated that Rolfe and Wood, Inc. has made a request to lease a portion of the Ci ty dump grounds for junked cars and be permitted to sell parts from the cars. After consideration, it was thought this same privilege should be extended to any and all other dealers, and it was decided by the Commission that the request be denied. Reports 'rhe following reports for the month of November, 1951 were presented: Fire Chief Water Collector Police Chief Police Judge Recreation Director and the report of the Recreation Director for the month of October, 1951. It was moved by CDmmissioner Secor, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and ConnnissioDer Healy; those voting No, none. Application for Transfer of Beer License The application for the transfer of the beer license of M. H. Lee, 211 East Main (Rocking R) to E. A. McNamara was pr esented. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, secmded by Commissioner Secor that the transfer be approved provided the state transfer license is in order., tna the motion was cWTied by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe; Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Charge for Fire Call Acting Fire Chief Penttila presented a statement for a fire call in the Gallatin Canyon for the H. F. Johnson Trucking Company, Billings, Montana, in the amount of $,28.75. The Commission stated the firm should be billed for this amount. Traffic Ordinance Amendments and changes in the proposed traffic ordinance were discussed. Revaluation of City Property for Instrr'ance purposes Don Bennett and Ed Heidel, a committee representing insurance agents, were present to discuss revaluations of city property for fire insurance purposes. 'rhey sta.ted their organizations furnished insurance engineers to help establish values on buildings for I I I insurance and it was decided that advice from such an engineer should be obtained be- fore any final action is taken in setting new values on city properties.
