If I have a two-bedroom unit that meets regulations and decide to rent the other short-term, nothing has changed that should require any inspection, anymore than moving in a girl friend or any longer term resident legally for that matter (they'd be charged rent too in most cases). Moreover, for STR-1 individuals, $475 in fees is exorbitant, completely out of line with the type of rental income generated in many, if not most cases. Many STR owners suggested a nominal fee for registration, if you wanted a system that induces STR owners to go official. The current ordinance proposal undermines that possibility.
