If you have any questions please call me at 406-579-1164 or e-mail me at peterharned@gmail.com. Thank you and have a great day. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hello, I would like to start off by thanking you for addressing the issue of short-term rentals in Bozeman. It is an important issue that could greatly change the character of Bozeman if not addressed. To fully disclose my position it is important to let you know that I work in the long term rental field in Bozeman. While I would benefit from eliminating a lot of the short term rentals do to those owners switching their properties over to rental companies like mine. I feel that the character of Bozeman would be greatly harmed if we were to reduce the amount of short-term rentals in the downtown Bozeman core. I do think the problem of having too many short-term rentals could grow. The best solution I have heard would be to grandfather in current short term rentals As long as the current properties go through the process of getting registered and paying a bed tax. I currently own a home in Valley West. We have an apartment above the garage. My wife and I rent it long-term and plan to do that indefinitely. However, I have neighbors who are renting their properties on a short-term basis. This has never negatively affect me. We actually kind of like it. It brings a positive energy to the neighborhood because these are people on vacation and having fun. I was on the zoning commission for about four years. During that time I looked at many issues and feel that this is a difficult one. Thank you for your hard work. I trust that you will make a good decision that will help Bozeman in the present and into the future. Respectfully, Peter Harned 406-579-1164 peterharned@gmail.com
