Building, Wednesday afternoon. June 6. 1951 at 1:00 0' clock I. M. fresent were Commissioner Secor.
Commissioner Healy. City Manager Henderson. City Attorney Lovelace. and the Clerk. when the followin~

Minutes of the last regular session were read. and it was moved by Conunissioner Healy. seconded
by Commissioner Secor, that the minutes be epproved as read. and the motion was carried by the follow-
ing; Aye and No vote: those voting; Aye being; Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those votinr;
No. none.
Secor Chosen Mayor Fro-Tern
It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor. that Commissioner Secor be
chosen Mayor liro-Tem to act in the absence of Mayor Lowe. and authorized to sign city warrants, and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting; Aye being; Commissioner Secor
and Commissioner Healy; those voting; No. none.
Request to Open "Slaughter House Road"
Mrs. Lillian Gardner Young; was present to request the crossinG. across the Northern :Pacific
Railroad tracks. which was abandoned in 1942, at the request of the N. P. Railroad Company. be reopened.
Mrs. Young was infom.ed this crossing was not a city street. and had been rerlaced by another road wh:ic h
had been improved. The Commission stated it was not their intention to open this crossing; again, unless
compelled to do so by court order.

It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Cormniss ioner Secor. that the rerorts be accerted
and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being

Liabili ty Insur~mce - Bogert Park and South Side Park
The lia.bility insurance policy covering Bogert's Park and the South Side Park was presented. Tho
polic;)' was aFproved as to form by the City Attorney. It was moved by Commissioner Healy. seconded by
Commissioner Secor. that the rolicy be ap:proved and accepted and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Corrunissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those votint; No, none.

The Manager stated he has audited these cla ims and 1'inds them to be true and lawful claims against
the City of Bozeman and recommends that warrants be drawn for their payment. After exemination of the
claims in detail by the City Conunission. it W&S moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner

Request for Adjustment on Assessment for S. I. D. #'641
Mr. Wm. Downey. owner of Lots 1 to 8. Block 22. Butte Addition, aI-peared before the Commission
in regard to the assessment of Special Improvement District No. 341 against these lots. He stated the

former owner, E. W. Hicks. had extended the sanitary sewer at his own expense, from West Grant Street
south approximately eighty feet. the sewer line in 8. T. D. No. 341 is connected to this sewer line.
all his property is assessed for S. T. D. No. 341. and asked that some adjustment be made. He was
infonned the records would be checked regarding this installation before any action could be taken.
Funch Board Tax
The 2% punch board tax imposed by the City was discussed with the Chief of lolice and the FoU ce
Captain. The Commission stated that. in computing the amount of tax for boards. all punches should be
counted. regardless of whether or not free plays are given as a prize on the board.
Regul ar Folicema.n for Grave Yard Shift
The matter of having one police officer permanently' assigned and in charge of the "grave yard
shift" from 11:00 o'clock P. M. to 7:00 o'clock A. M. was discussed. It was moved by Commissioner
Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor. that Louis Krueger be designated as Sergeant of 1'olice. that he
be assigned to and in charge of the grave yard shift. and that his pay be increased f5.00 per month,
effective July I. 1951. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No. none.
Flmls and Bids for TrWlk Sewer

Communications were read from Morrison-Malarle. Inc.. relative to the trunk sewer line in the
wast and northwest part of the City on vtlich they have prepared preliminary plRIls. Estimate of cost
of the entire :project. based on these I,reliminary plans, is ar:proximately $75.000.00 of which approx-
ima tely $19.000.00 would be the cost of the required sewer Fipe and jointing materiaL The Director
of Finance presented a statement showing that there Is a sUrJ_lus on May 31. 1951. in the S. D. S.
Revenue Pund. of $54.457.75 which can be used to pey for this project and that. based on present
sewer rentals. it is estimated that this surplus will build uI; to at-proximately $78.000.00 by July I.
1952 or more than enough to pay for the entire project.
Based on the information furnished. it was moved by Commissioner Secor. seconded by Commissioner
Healy. that the City Manager be instructed to authorize Morrison-Maierla. Inc.. to proceed at once
with preparation of comrlete and detail ed construction plans and srecificE,tions for the project and
that the Clerk oi the Commission be instructed to advertise for bids for the sewer pipe required for
the }-roject in accordance wi th estimated quantities required and srecifications to be furnished by
Morrison-Maierle. Inc.. and the motion was carried by tbe following; Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No. none.
