Taylor - Short Term RentalsFrom: Bucky Taylor <buckytaylor@gmail.com> Date: May 21, 2017 at 7:34:11 PM MDT To: <cwinn@bozeman.net> Subject: Urgent Comments on Short Term Rentals Dear Chuck, I have tried multiple times to submit a comments form on Short Term Rentals on bozeman.net and have been unsuccessful. Because this is a time sensitive issue, I have pasted my message below. I would appreciate it if you could include these thoughts in your meeting tomorrow: We are firmly against your proposed changes. we bought our home at 509 East Fridley St twelve years ago with the intention of retiring in Bozeman. Currently, we live in our home three months per year, enjoying quality time with our son and his family who live next door. For the other nine months, we open our home as a short term vacation rental. Without this rental income, we could not afford to keep our home. Although we worry that this loss will jeopardize time with our own family, we also fear that it will jeopardize the Bozeman community. Our renters contribute to Bozeman's economy, shopping in stores, eating at restaurants, and participating in recreational activities like hiking and skiing. In addition, many of our renters come to visit their own families; they work to build family values and connection throughout the area. In making your decision, please consider these effects on families and the Bozeman community. Unlike other types of rentals, we have done everything right. Paul House is our property manager. We are licensed, pay the bed tax, and comply with the health department. Accordingly, we urge you to vote against the proposed changes or, at the very least, to grandfather in compliant homeowners, such as ourselves, with existing rental properties. Best, Bucky and Frani Taylor Owners of 509 East Fridley St. 203-822-8887
