HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958-01-02 :171 Bozeman, Montana January 2, 1968 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Thursday, January 2, 1968 at 1100 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Berg, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk. The following proceedings were hadl I Minutes of the last regular meeting of December 26, 1957 were read and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Berg, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the followinf; Aye and No votel those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Berg; those voting No, none. Requisition, S. R. DeBoer & Co. A requisition from S. R. DeBoer & Company against the Montana State Planning Board for partial payment on the DeBoer contract for preparation of a master plan of this City was presented for certifica- tion. It was moved by Commissioner Berg, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that, subject to its being completed in detail, the Mayor and Clerk be and are hereby authorized to sign the required certificate on this requisition and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No votel those voting ~e being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwln and Commissioner Berg; those voting No, none. Claims for the Month Claims Nos. 106 to 358 inclusive were presented on the various funds as follows: Band . 16.00 Cemetery 1,044.69 Garbage 3.001.85 General 13,594.61 Library 1.472 .09 .1 Park 2,498.56 Parking Meter 1,963.24 S. D. 1, 730.07 Street 6,081.87 Wa ter Sys tem Imp' t 266.17 Water 7.807.05 Police Reserve 3.786.15 Tot a 1 $46,921.71 The Manager stated that he has audited these claims and finds them to be true and lawful claims against the City of Bozeman and recommends that warrants be drawn for their payment. After examination of the claims in detail by the Commission and ohecking against the claim register, it was moved by Commissioner Berg, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the claims be approved and warrants issued for their payment, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor b~nson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Berg; those voting No, none. Report Report of the State Examiner on the examination of city accounts for the period ending October 31st, 1967 was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Berg, that the report be accepted and ordered filed, and the motion was carried by the following ~e and No votel those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Berg; those voting No, none. I Fire Insurance on City Buildings Renewal of fire insurance on city buildings and contents was considered. There have been no new buildings added or disposed of since the last detailed appraisal in 1954 and it was pointed out that depreciation since then has been reasonably offset by general increases in building oosts. It was moved by Commissioner Berg, seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the City Manager be authorized to submit the same table of values as prepared in 1954 as the basis for establishing new rates at this time and that fire insurance expiring on December 31, 1957 be renewed on these values and on the new rates to be established by the Montana Fire Rating Bureau from those values and the motion :~f72 was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin, Commiss ioner Berg; those voting No, none. Proposed Lewis Sub-Division A plat of land lying south of the City along Sour Dough Road to be known as Lewis Subdivision was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Berg, that the plat be referred to the City-County Planning Board, and to DeBoer & Compan~ for review and recommendations and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner I Erwin. Commissioner Berg; those voting No, none. Applications for Beer & Liquor License The following applications for Beer and Liquor Licenses were presented: Retail ~! Commissioner Berg; those voting No, none. Appointments -- Penttila as Fire Chief' Promotions - Fisher, Reardon, Embry The City Manager announced the appointment of Assistant Chief William Penttila to be Fire Chief of this City. effeotive January 1, 1958, to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of former Fire Chief John W. McCrosson. He also announced promotions in the Fire Department as followsl I Homer Hsher from Captain to Assistant Chief Tim Reardon froIll Lieutenant to Captain Allen Embry from Fireman to Lieutenant It was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Berg. that these appointments and promotions be confirmed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Berg; those voting No, none. Restricted Parking Requested on East Story Street A communication was read from R. R. Renne. requesting that parking of cars be restricted to one side of the street on East Story Street from Tracy to Church Avenue. The matter was discussed together with restricting of parking on one side of the street on the following streets I College Street from Third Avenue to Eighth Avenue Kooh Street from Third AVenue to Eighth Avenue Black Avenue from Olive Street to Story Street It was directed that the matter be referred to the City-County Planning Board and to S. R. DeBoer & Company for recommendations.
