MEMORANDUM

To: Bozeman Parking Commission
From: Ed Meece, Parking Program Manager
Re: Report to Bozeman City Commission-
On Street Parking Near Black/Olive Development
At their April 10, 2017 meeting, the Bozeman City Commission directed that the
Bozeman Parking Commission review the status of on street parking for those
streets near to the proposed Black/Olive development. Further, the Bozeman City
Commission asked for a report of findings within ninety days.
The Parking Program Manager is developing a draft report for consideration by the
Bozeman Parking Commission at their regular June 8 meeting. At this time, several
steps are underway toward completion of that effort:
• The PPM has met with the Street Department Superintendent and Assistant
Superintendent to discuss the existing 'street maintenance' parking
restrictions. The Street Department will prepare a written explanation of the
necessity of these restrictions, and the impact of removing them.
• The PPM has obtained a copy of the City of Bozeman's `dangerous
intersection' study, from 1996, (in combination with the Montana
Department of Transportation), and is reviewing the document for possible
explanation of extended no parking zones at several study area intersections.
• PSD staff have field mapped all of the relevant parking regulation signage in
the study area, and are integrating that information with existing 'yellow
marking' data already mapped by the GIS Department.
• The PPM expects to hold a meeting with all internal stakeholders in the next
several weeks, to discuss current parking restrictions and perform a street-
by-street review of where opportunities might exist for changes that would
create additional on street parking inventory.
