The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building. Wednesday~ September 26, 1957, at 1100 o'clock P. M. Those being present were Mayor Swanson,
City Manager Henderson and the Clerk. A quorum not being present~ Mayor Swanson announced the meeting
adjourned until 1:00 o'clock P. M., September 27, 1957.

The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in an adjourned regular session 1n the Corrunission Room,
City Hall Building, Friday, September 27, 1957 at l:OO o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Swanson,
Commissioner Berg, City Manager Henderson, Administrative Assistant Sales, City Attorney Lovelace and
the Clerk. The following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the regular session of September 18, 1957 were read and it was moved by Commissioner
Berg, seconded by Mayor Swanson~ that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by
the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Berg; those voting
No, none.
Resolution No. 862 -- Assessing Parking Maintenance for 1957
Resolution No. 862 levying the assessment for parking maintenance for the year 1957 in the various
parking maintenance districts, in the amount of $7,246.76, was presented, entitled:

Resolution No. 863 -- Assessing Lighting Maintenance for 1957
Resolution No. 863, levying the assessment in the amount of t3,190.66 for the several special
ornamental lighting districts was presented, entitleda

Resolution No. 864 -- Assessing Street Sprinkling
Resolution No. 864, levying the assessment for street sprinkling in the amount of $1~290.38,

Resolution No. 866 -... Registering Warrants for SID's
The City Attorney, as instructed, has prepared a resolution authorizing registering warrants at
5% interest for partial payment to Harold Hoskins & Assooiates, Consulting Engineers. Resolution No.
865 was presented, entitled:

Claims for Payment to Hoskins & Associates
Claims Nos. 9396 to 9403 inclusive on the S. I. D. Fund in the total amount of $31,664.26 were
presented. It was moved by Mayor Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Berg, that the olaims be approved
and warrants drawn for their payment and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:
those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Berg; those voting No, none.
Claim -- Transfer to Water System Improvement Fund
Claim No. 9395 in the amount of $29,578.71, which balance is over and above the requirements for
the Water Operating Account, the Operating Reserve Aocount and the requirements'for the Revenue Bond
Account as provided in Ordinance No. 800. was presented.
It was moved by Mayor Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Berg, that the claim be approved and a
warrant drawn for its payment and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No votel those
voting ~e being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Berg; those voting No, none.
Encroachment Permit -- Bozeman TV on North 7th
Request has been made by Bozeman Community Television for permission to place their cable under-
ground in the parking strip of the street right-of...way on North Seventh Avenue between Villard and
Beall Streets.
It was moved by Commissioner Berg, seconded by Mayor Swanson, that the request be granted and the
Meyor and Clerk of the Commission be authorized to sign the encroaohment permit for the City of Bozeman,
and. the motion carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and
Commissioner Berg; those voting No, none.
D. A. V Forget-me-not Day
Request has been received from the Bozeman D. A. V. to sell Forget-roe-not tags on October 12,
1957, and that this date be designated as F'orget-me-not Day.
It was moved by Mayor Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Berg, that the request be granted, and the
motion carried by the following Aye and No votel those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner
Berg; those voting No, none.
Water System Improvement Projeot -- Change Order
The City Manager requests apfroval of a change order in the construction of the water system
improvement project authorizing the delay of work on Curtiss Street to avoid cutting off water supply
to a large area on the west side of the City. This change necessitates an additional cost of $190.30
to the City.
It was moved by Commissioner Berg, seoonded by Mayor Swanson, that the ohange order be approved,
and the motion carried by the following Aye and No votel those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and
Commissioner Berg; those voting No, none.

Purchase of Radio Equipment for Police & Fire Departments

It is recommended by Fire Chief and Chief of Police that portable radio equipment for the Police
and Fire Departments to cost approximately '375.00 for each department be purchased. It was moved by
Mayor Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Berg, that the City Manager be authorized to purchase this
equipment and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No votel those voting Aye being Mayor
Swanson and Commissioner Berg; those voting No, none.
Examination of Depository Bonds
The Commission proceeded to check the Custodian's Receipts of Depository Bonds to cover the City's
deposi ts in the various banks and found the bonds sufficient to cover deposits.
It was moved by Commissioner Berg, seconded by Mayor Swanson, that the security receipts be
approved and a list of them be set out in full in these minutes, end the motion oarried by the following
Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Berg; those voting No, none.

Confirmation of John W. Border as Policeman
Police Captain C. V. Saunders, Acting Chief of Police, recommends that John W. Border, who has
been employed as a probationary policeman since March 17, 1957, be confirmed as a regular member of the
Police Department.
It was moved by Mayor Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Berg, that John W. Border be confirmed
as a regular member of the Police Department effective from and after September 17, 1957, and the
motion carried by the following Aye and No votel those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson end

Traffic Ordinanoe
The operation of metered parking lots qy the City necessitates amendments to the Traffio
Ordinance. Other changes and additions to bring the ordinance up to date have been proposed by the
City Manager, Chief of Police, and City Attorney and these proposed amendments were discussed with
the Commission.
