HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-02-13 210 Bozeman, Montana February 13, 1957 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room~ City Hall Building, Wednesday, February 13, 1957 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Swanson~ Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager Henderson, Administrative Assistant Sales~ City Attorney Lovelace and the Cle rk. The following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin~ seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the minutes be approved as read end the motion was carried by the following ~e and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson~ Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Claim - Montana Municipal League Request has been received for special dues in the amount of $20.00 for the Montana Municipal League to meet expenses incurred by the League in carrying out their activities at the state legislature. Claim No. 7563 in the amount of $20.00 was presented. After examination of the claim by the Commission, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe~ seconded by Commissioner Erwin~ that the claim be approved and a warrant issued for its payment and the motion carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Reports The following reports for the month of January ~ 1957 were presented: Sanitary Inspector Chief of Police Police Judge It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson~ Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No~ none. Rental Offer for Eagles' Lot Letter was read from Bozeman Aerie No. 326~ F. O. E., requesting an increase in rental from $75.00 per month to $125.00 per month on the parking lot at the corner of Babcock Street and Bozeman Avenue, leased by the City~ and citing increases in taxes in recent years as reason for the requested increase. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that an offer of $100.00 per month be made to the Eagles' Lodge for the rental of this parking lot, and the motion carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Discussion of We. ter Ra te8 Martin Whalen, Superintendent of MSC Physical Plant, appeared before the Commission to discuss the proposed water rates and their effect on the college. It was his contention that the proposed rates may prove prohibitive and expressed his belief that it may be necessary for the College to put in a well system for their water supply. Stanton Aby, fiscal agent for the City of Bozeman on matters relating to the proposed water revenue bonds, appeared before the Commission to discuss the hearing on water rates to be held before the Public Service Commiss ion on February 14, 1957. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the meeting adjourn, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson~ Commiss ioner Erwin and Comnlissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. .#~ Clerk of the City Commission Mayor 1 I 1
