The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room~ City Hall
Building, Wednesday, Februa~ 20, 1957 at l:OO o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner
Erwin, Commissioner Lowe~ City Manager Henderson~ Administrative Assistant Sales, City Attorney Lovelace
and the Clerk. The following proceedings were had:

Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded ~
Commissioner Lowe, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye
and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those
voting No, none.
Bids for Water Project - To be Opened at One Letting
Harvey Taylor and James Dowe of Morrison-Maierle, Inc. appeared before the Commission to discuss
time and manner of opening bids for the City's water expansion project. Mr. Taylor suggested the
possibili ty of letting the bids in two stages to alleviate danger of right-of-way proceedings holding
up the program but, since the City has right of eminent domain in t}-;is project, the Commission expressed
their desire that all bids be opened at one letting.
License for Lunch Room at Montana Winter Fair - Lutheran Church
Hope Lutheran Church proposes to operate a lunch counter at the Montana Winter Fair. It was moved
by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the Director of Finance be authorized to
issue a one-half year license for this operation and the motion was carried by the following Aye
and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those
voting No, none.

Report
The report of the Director of Finance for the month of January, 1957 was presented. It was moved
by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the report be accepted and ordered filed and
the motion carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson~ Commissioner
Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Retirement of S. D. Waldorf -- Ci~ Engineer
S. D. Waldorf, City Engineer, has announced his intention to retire, effective March 8, 1957.
ResiGnation of Gerald Gates -- Policeman
Gerald Gates, City Policeman, has submitted his resignation to be effective as of March 1, 1957.
Assistant Fire Chief to Attend Meeting in Helena
William Penttila, Assistant Fire Chief, requests permission to attend a meeting in Helena,
F'ebruary 22, 1957, with the State Superintendent of Schools to discuss initiation of a f'iremen's
training program in conjunction Witll the State Superintendent's Office. It was moved by Commissioner
Lowe, seconded ~ Commissioner Erwin, that Wm. Penttila be authorized to attend the meeting and his
expenses be paid from the General FUnd and the motion carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.

Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by
Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin~ that the meeting adjourn~ and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin
and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
