The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regul ar session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday, February 27, 1957 at 1,00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Swanson. Commissioner
Erwin, Corrunissione r Lowe, City Maneger Henderson, Administrative Assistant Sales, City Attorney Lovelace
and the Clerk. The following proceedings were had;
Minutes of the last regulAr session were read end it was moved by Commissioner ~owe, seconded by
Commissioner Erwin, tl:e. t the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye
and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Cornmissioner Lowe; those
voting No, none.
Purchase of Water Meters Authorized
The Water Superintendent has recommended the purchase of twenty-four 3/4" we. ter meters. It was
moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the City Manager be authorized to
purchase twenty-four water meters at an approximate cost of $648.00. and the motion wes carried by the
following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner
Lowe; those voting No, none.
Report
Wm. Penttila, Assistant Fire Chief, arpesred before the Commission to report on a meeting of the
Board of Directors end the Training Connni ttee of the Fire Chiefs' Association wi th the SUferintendent
of Public Instruction which he attended in Helena. It is hoped that a training program for firemen
in the state can be coordinated through the Public Instruction Superintendent's office.
Leave of Absence - Clyde Latta
Clyde Latta, City Policeman, has been off duty since Januar"J 7th of this year due to a heart
ailment. The City Manager requests that leave of absence without pay be granted Latta until April 1,
1957 in hopes that it can be determined withjn that time whether he will be able to resume his duties.
It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that leave of absence with out
pay be granted Policeman Clyde Latta until April 1, 1957, and the motion carried by the following; Aye
a.nd No vote: those voting; Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Conunissioner Lowe; those
voting No, none.
Fetition to Vacate Curtiss Street
Petition signed by Clara <Tohnson, I. M. Johnson and Donald Corcoran was presented requesting that
Curtiss Street be vacated from the east line of Werre's Rearrangement to the city limits on 15th
Avenue. The petition was referred to the Plan Board requesting their recommendation wi thin two weeks.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it WBS moved by
Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the meeting adjourn, and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin
and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
