The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Conrnission Room, City Hall
Building. Wednesday, April 17, 1957 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner
Erwin, Commiss ioner Lowe. City Manager Henderson, Administra ti ve Ass istant Sales, City Attorney
Lovelace and the Clerk. The following proceedings were had;
Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded
by Commissioner Lowe, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the follow-
ing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Conuniss ioner Erwin and Conrnissioner Lowe;
those voting No, none.
Agreement -- Fire Protection for Bozeman High School
A proposed agreement was presented under v.hich the City of Bozeman will furnish fire protection
for the new Bozeman High School now being constructed on a tract of ground adjacent to but outside the
city limits along North Eleventh Avenue and between the lines of West Main Street and West Beall Street
projected. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the City of
Bozeman enter into this agreement with Bozeman High School District and that the Mayor and Clerk of
the Commission be and are hereby authorized to sign the agreement for the City of Bozeman, and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner
Erwin and Conun:issioner Lowe; those voting No. none.
Use of Cooper Perk for Easter Egg Hunt
Dr. T. W. Fellows appeared to request the use of Cooper Park for the annual Jaycee Easter Egg
Hunt. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the request be granted,
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson.

Employees I Wage Rate Request for Fi seal Year 1957-58
R. L. Rampy, business agent for the local teamsters union. appeared before the Commission to
discuss a letter sent earlier by union representatives in which request is made by those city employees
who are union members for a $.25 an hour increase in wages, from $1.75 to $2.00 an hour. Mr. Rampy
produced an agreement between the union and the three largest local contractors in which higher wages
are agreed to in the coming year and he expressed the feeling that city employees should be raised
proportionately. He was informed that no answer could be given to the request at this time due to the
unknown effect of recent legislation on the city's finances and until a proposed budget for the 1957-58
fiscal year is prepared. Mr. Rampy requested that he be allowed to go over the operation of the depart-
ments with the City Manager prior to a proposed budget being presented and he was told this would be
done.
Ordinance No. 796 -- Sub-division Regulations
Ordinance No. 796, establ ishing sub-di vis ion regulations J wa.s presented. entitled:

Purchase of Underground Light Cable
It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe. that the City Manager be
authorized to purchase underground cable for street light ci rcui t replacement in the 8.f<proxima te amount
of $460.00, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Swanson. Commiss ioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those vo ting No. none.

Petition for Paving in Merwyn Addition
Peti tion has been received from owners in Marwyn Addition requesting thet a paving district be
created to pave the following streets:
Cypress - from Main to Babcock
Aylsworth - from Babcock to Curtiss
Babcock - from Cypress to Aylsworth
Curtiss - from Aylsworth to Buttonwood

The petition was referred to the City Engineer for his study and recommendations and an estimate
of costs for the project.
Resolution No. 832 -- Intention to Vacate Portion of Curtiss Street
At the instruction of the Commission the City Attorney has prepared a resolution of intention
to vacate the western portion of Curtiss Street. Resolution No. 832 was presented, entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN. MONTANA, DECLARING IT TO BE THE
INTENTION OF SAID COMMISSION TO VACATE PORTIONS OF WEST CURTISS STREET IN SAID CITY OF
BOZEMAN .
It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe. that the resolution be passed
and adopted and April 24th, 1957 be set as the date for hearing protests and the motion carried by
the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner
Lowe; those voting No, none.
Resolution No. 833 -- Application for Flanning }lunds for Street Improvements
Resolution No. 833, application for planning funds for street improvements, wa.s presented entitled:
A RESOLUT ION OF THE COM.MISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN. MONTANA AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, IN
BEHALF OF SAID CITY OF BOZEMAN. TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE UNITED STATES FOR .AN ADVANCE
TO AID IN FINANCING ENGINgERING SURVEYS AND FLANSFDR STREET IMPROVEMENTS.
It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe. that the resolution be passed and

There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time. it was moved by
