HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-09-26 198 Bozeman, Montana September 26th, 1956 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session Wednesday, September 26, 1956, at 1:00 0' clock P.M. in the Commission Room, City Hall Building. Present were Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner towe, Administrative Assistant Sales, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk of the Commission. Minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following I .Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Lowe, ; those voting No, none. Commissioner Erwin Elected Nlayor Fro Tern Mayor Swanson being absent at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commis- sioner Erwin that Commissioner Erwin be elected Mayor Pro Tem during the absence of Mayor Swanson and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Hesolution No. 821 - Final Adoption - Assessment S.LD. No. ;583 This was the time and place set for hearing protests to levying assessments for Special Improvement District No. 383, water mains on West ~:ain Street. There having been no protests filed and no one present to protest Resolution No. 821 was presented, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, LEVYING AND ASSESSING A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON ALL THE PROPERTY IN SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 383 IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLATIN, STATE OF MONTANA, TO DEFRAY THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING AND MAKING THE IMFROVEMF1NTS WITHIN SAID SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 383. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the resolution be finally passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. The Commission proceeded to check the Custodian's Receipts of Depository Bonds to cover the City's I Examination of Depository Bonds deposits in the various city banks, and found the bonds sufficient to cover deposits. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the bonds be approved and a list of them be set out in full in these minutes, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Erwin, ;Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. I I I 1 !}f} Water Restrictions for 1956 Repealed The City Manager reported that, due to the decreased use of water for irrigation, water pressures in the city water system have built up and special restrictions are no longer necessary. He announced that water restrictions that took effect June 9th, 1956, as authorized by the Commission at their regular meeting June 6th, 1956, would be repealed and notice printed. Refort - Internati:Jnal City Manager's Assc)ciation Meetjng The City Manager gave a full report on the I.C.M.A. Meeting which he attended held September 16th through 20th, in Banff, Canada. Proposal of Hoskins Associates -- Eng ineering Service w. T. Wendland and Faul Sanderger representing Harold Hoskins & Associated, Engineers, of Lincoln, Nebraska, appeared before the Commission to present a proposal, copies of which were left with the Com- mission, that their firm be contracted by the City of Bozeman to do complete engineering services for a city-wide paving and storm drainage program. The Commission informed them their proposal would be given every consideration. Traffic -- One-Way Streets The City Commis s ion instructed the City Manager to publicize the possHi!. ity of the city making cretain streets one-way streets, particularly Babcock Street and Mendenhall Street and Garfield Street and Cleveland Street. It is hoped that such publicity will bring suggestions from the public concerned. Adjournment , There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the meeting adjourn, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
