The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Rooml City Hall
Building, Wednesday, October 10, 1956, at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner
Erwin, Commissioner Lowe, City Ma.nager Henderson, Administrative Assistant Salesl City Attorney
Lovelace, and the Clerk. The following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by
Commissioner Erwin, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson. Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those
voting No, none.
Proposal of Harold Hoskins & Associates - Street Improvements
Copies of the proposal of Harold Hoskins & Associates to do engineering work on a "City-wide"
street improvement project were presented to the Commissioners for their study and consideration.
Claims for the Month - Late Claims for September, 15:)56
Claims Nos. 6631 to 6653 inclusive were presented on the various funds as follows:

The Manager stated that he has audited these claims and finds them to be true and lawful claims
against the City of Bozeman and recommends that warrants be issued for their payment. After examina-
tion of the claims in detail by the Commission and checking against the Claims Register, it WB.S moved
by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the claims be approved and warrants issued
for their payment, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Reports
Reports of the Chief of Police and the Cashier for the month of September, 1956 and the annual
audit of the Gallatin Field operations for the fiscal year 1955-56 were presented. It was moved by
Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson,
Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Appointment - Frank E. Hoey to Cemetery Boa.rd
Mayor Swanson announced the appointment of Frank E. Hoey to fill the unexpired term of Fred Willson
as a member of the Sunset Hills Cemetery Board. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by
Commissioner Erwin, that the appointment be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye
and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those
voting No, none.
Request for Installation of Two- Inch Water Line - Zellner & Ziniker
Request has been made by Zellner & Ziniker, who are building a saw mill on "LM Street, that the
City install a two-inch water service to their property under the same conditions that service installa-
tions are made to residential property in Bozeman. The Commission noted the possibility of the City
being in competition with private business in this instance and recommended that the work be contracted
elsewhere.
Purchase of 24 Water Meters
The Water Superintendent has requested that 24 water meters be purchased. It was moved by

Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Corrunissioner Lowe, that the City Manager be a.uthorized to purchase
24 new water meters and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being Mayor Swanson, Corrunissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Request to Rent Roller
Request has been made by Mecklenburg & Gower, Building Contractors, to rent the City's roller
for use at the Bon Ton Flour Mills, a job contracted by them. Since it is the policy of the City

not to rent its equipment for private use, the request was denied.
Resolution No. 824 - W & C 1956 Assessment
The resolution levying the assessment for the construction of Miscellaneous W & C, 1956, in
the amount of $1,622.07 was presented, entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF' THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN LEVYING AND ASSESSING A SPECIAL
ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON CERTAIN PROPERTIES IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLATIN,
STATE OF MONTANA, TO DEFRAY THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING AND INSTALLING AND/OR REPAIRING
MISCELLANEOUS SIDEWALKS AND CURBS DURING THE YEAR 1956.

provisionally passed and adopted and October 17, 1956 be set as the date for hearing protests, and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner
Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Resolution No. 825 - Weed Assessment
Resolution No. 825, levying assessments in the amount of ii97. 75, for cutting weeds on private
properties during 1956, was presented, entitled:

DEFINING AND PROVIDING FOR TIrE PUNISHMENT AND ABATEMENT OF CERTAIN NUISANCES."

GALLATIN, STATE OF MONTANA, SERVICED AND FROM WHICH GARBAGE WAS COLli.ECTED AND REMOVED
DURING THE YEAR 1956, TO DEFRAY THE COST AND EXPENSE OF COLLECTING AND DISPOSING OF
GARBAGE UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 696 OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN.
It wa.s moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the resolution be
provisionally passed and adopted and October 17, 1956 be set as the date for hearing protests, and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner
Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting NOI none.
