HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-10-24 ;~09 Bozeman, Montana October 24, 1956 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular' session in the Commission Room, City Ha.ll Building, Wednesday, October 24, 1956, at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager Henderson. Administrative Assistant Sales, City Attorney Lovelace, and the Clerk. The following proceedings were had: I Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Corrunissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the minutes be a.pproved as read and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting NOI none. Reports The following reports for the month of September, 1956 were presented: Director of Finance Cemetery Board It was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No. none. Appointments -- Board of Adjustment The 3-year terms of the 5 members of the Board of Adjustment end November 8, 1956. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that Mrs. W. W. Spain, Frank Goodsonl Glen Harrington, George Bosch and Roy Cattrell be re-appointed as members of the Board of Adjustment for 3-year terms ending November 81 1959 and the motion was carried by the following Aye Bnd No vote: those v oting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting I No, none. Communication Re: Forest Service Policy on Harvesting Timber Letter from J. C. Urquhart. Forest Supervisor, Gallatin National Forest, was read in which the position of the Forest Service in respect to timber sales in the Sourdough Creek drainage was clari- fied. He stated that there are no immediate plans for cutting in this area, due to no existing transrorta- tion system. but that good forest management requires that timber be harvested in a continuing felterr: to utilize growth rather than deplete the resource, and assuming that construction of a road b;y the City of Bozeman makes possible access to the timber, it would be proper to assume that the Government will harvest from two to three million board feet per year in this drainage. Adjournment lbere being no further business to come before the Corrunission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the meeting adjourn, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye beinE Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
