HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-11-07 212 Bozeman, Montana November 7, 1956 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, November 7, 1956 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager Henderso~Administrative Assistant Sales, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk. The following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Mayor Swanson, tM.t the minutes be approved as read end the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Claims for the Month Claim Nos. 6654 to 6886 inclusive were presented on the various funds as follows: Band Cemetery Cemetery Suspense Cemetery Perm. Care Garbage General Library Park Parking Meter Police Reserve SDSRevenue Street Water $ 112.81 1,248.77 896.00 5,000.00 2,726.20 15,122.33 1,486.41 2,529.04 1,017.83 86.16 2,838.23 7,261.37 8,688.15 Tot a 1 -- -- $48,902.29 The Manager stated he has audited these cl aims and finds them to be true and lawful claims against the City of Bozeman and recommends that warrants be drawn for their payment. After examination of the claims in detail, and checking against the claim Register, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Mayor Swanson, that the Claims be approved and warrants issued for their payment, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Repo rts The following reports for the month of October, 1966 were presented: Sewage Plant Operator Fire Chief Police Chief Cashier Librarian Cemetery Board Water Collector It was moved by Mayor Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, the t the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion carried by the following Aye and No vote: those v oting Aye being MEf{ or Swanson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Proposal for Replatting Southeast Portion of the Ci~ Carroll Henderson, David De1ap, Richard Lubben, and Oswald Berg, Jr., representing the Deaconess Hospital, appeared before the Commission and presented a proposed replatting of the Southeast portion of the City and requested that the City consider opening the main north-south arterial as shown and extend city water into the area. The Commission referred the platting to the City Engineer and Morrison- Mairle for study. Conference with Planning Consultant Approved rhe Municipal Plan Board has recommended to the City Commission that Mr. DeBoer of DeBoer & Co., Planning Consultants of' Denver, be invited to Jlozeman to discuss city planning to help determine if it is advisable for the City to hire such a firm. The Commission instructed the City Manager to invite Mr. DeBoer to Bozeman to discuss local planning, his actual travel expenses for the trip to be paid by the City of Bozeman. Representatives to Fact Finding Committee Meeting The State Fact Finding Committee is to meet November 15, 1966 in Helena to report on their findings. It was moved by Conunissioner Lowe, secended by Mayor Swanson, that the City Commissioners, I I I City Manager and City Engineer be authorized to attend and the motion was carried by the following ')1 '3" 1-..1. ..t Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Communication from State Board of Health Re: Opening Water Sheds A letter from the State Board of Health was read regarding the opening of Lyman Creek and Bozeman Creek water sheds. It stated that proper lumbering operations could be carried on and restricted opening to the Public made without detrimental affect on the watershed. but in the case of I opening the areas to grazing at least the area within 100 ft. 0 f the creeks should be fenced off and care taken not to overgraze the remainder and such grazing is not recommended unless found by the City to be economically just. In any case, such orening will have to be requested by the City and concurred in by the State Board of Health and the U. S. Forest Service.
