HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-11-14 21,1 Bozeman, Montana November 14, 1956 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, November 141 1956 at laOO o'clook P. M. Fresent were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Lowel City Manager Henderson. Administrative Assistant Sales, City Attorney Lovelaoe and the Clerk. The following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded I by Commissioner Lowel that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson. Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No. none. One-Way Streets The matter of designating certain streets for "One-Way" traffic and limiting "Parking to One Side Only" on other streets was again considered. Ji'inancial aspeots of the proposal, traffic conditions during winter months, and other factors were disoussed and it was agreed to defer action on the proposal for not less than 3a days and possibly until the beginning of the next fisoal year. Charge for Fire Call -- MSC Farm The City Fire Department answered a call to the MSC farm east of Bozeman on November 8, 1956. Work of City Firemen and use of City equipment stopped the fire and saved extensive property loss and Chief McCrosson has recommended that the College be charged $150.00 for this service. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded ~ Commissioner Erwin. that a charge of $ISO.aO be presented to M. S. C. and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson. Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No. none. Water Line and Street Improvements for Area in Southeast Part of City I An estimated cost of street and water improvements I requested by representatives of the Deaconess ,Hospital, at the Commission meeting November 7, 1956, to be installed by the City was presented ~ S. D. Waldorf. City Engineer. These costs show that it would be prohibitive as City expenditures to assist in or subsidize these developments of area within the City. The Commission instructed the City Manager to inform those making the request that there are no funds available nor could the City expend generel funds to construct streets, install a water system or otherwise subsidize development of new areas and the request submitted on November 7, 1956 must therefore be denied. Repo rts The following report for the month of October. 1966 was presented; Sanitary Inspector. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the report be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No. none. Request for Street Light - 12th & Curtiss Property owners at 12th Avenue and Curtiss Street have requested a street light on that corner. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowel that the City Manager be authorized to have the MOntana Power install a street light at 12th Avenue and Curtiss Street and the motion was I carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Swansonl Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No. none. Letter - Board of Adjustment - Rea Application for Rehearing of Af.peal of Gallatin Farmers Company The Board of Adjustment has received an application from the Gallatin Farmers Company for rehearing of their appeal. on the refusal of the City of Bozeman to issue them a license to conduct a "wholesale" or "retail bulk" business for the sale of gasoline and other motor fuels at 411 No. Seventh Avenue. Letter from the Board to the Commission requests answers to questions brought up by the application in order to clarify the intent of the Zoning Ordinance. The City Attorney was instructed to prepare en answer to the letter. Resignation of Lloyd Johnson as Police Judge Letter from Police Judge Lloyd Johnson requests his resignation be accepted effective January 1, 1957. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the resignation be accepted and the Mayor authorized to write a letter of commendation to Mr. Johnson for nearly 25 years I of loyal service as Police Judge of Bozeman and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Purchase of Drums for Band 'l'he Municipal Band recommends the purchase of one pair of Tympani (Kettle Dr\lJlli;). It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seoonded by Commissioner Lowe, that the City Manager be authorized to purchase these for the band at a cost of a~proximately $450.00 and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
