HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-12-12 I I I Bozemanl Montana December 121 1956 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, December 12, 1956 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager Henderson, Administrative Assistant Sales, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk. The following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner Erwinl seconded by Commissioner Lowel that the minutes be a~proved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swansonl Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting NOI none. Claims for Month Claims Nos. 7100 to 7124 inclusive were presented on the various funds as follows: Gene ral Street Water S. D. S. Revenue Library Park Cemetery Garbage Parking Meter $1,727.09 485.62 362.13 36.ll 137.36 70.35 12.22 96.61 9.75 Tot a 1 - $2.937.24 W & C 1956 Bds. 1,512.13 The Manager stated he has audited these claims and finds them to be true and lawful claims against The City of Bozeman and recommends that warrants be drawn for their payment. Af'ter examination of the cla ims in detan by the Commission and checking them with the claim register, it was moved by Commi~sioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the claims be approved and warrants issued fbr their paymentl and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swansonl Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Letter to Bolinger Re: Extension of Water Outside City Limits As per instructions given at the last meeting of the City Commission, the City Manager had prepared and at this time presented a proposed letter to H. A. Bolinger, Jr. informing him that the City's policy of not extending city util ity services beyond the city limits must be kept in effect but that, whenever the property in question can be satisfactorily flatted and brought into the City, city utilities can be made available to it. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the letter be afproved and the motion carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Renewal of Fire Insurance of City Buildings The schedule of values for city-owned buildings and contents as established in December, 1955 was reviewed and it was recommended that it be continued without change as the basis for rates on that portion of Fire Insurance covering these properties to be renewed January 1, 1957. It was moved by Commissioner Erwinl seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the December, 1955 schedule of values be used f'or the coming year and the motion carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting NOI none. Rer-orts The following reports for the month of November, 1956 were presented: Cashier Cemetery Sanitary Inspector and the Sta te Examine r I s Annual Report. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the rerorts be accepted and ;2:~3 22,1 ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson I Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Proposal of S. R. DeBoerl Planning Consultant Proposal was presented from S. R. DeBoer and Co., Planning Consultants of Denverl covering proposed employment of this firm to develop a master plan for guidance and control of future growth of this City. No action was taken on the proposal pending securing definite information on what Federal funds and other financial aid can be secured to carry out such a planning program. Hecorrunendation of Morrison-Maierle, Inc. -- Purchese of Hyalite Water John Morrison end Harvey Taylor of Morrison-Maierle, Inc. appeared before the Commiss ion to d i8- cuss progress on the proposed enlargement of the City's water system. 'lhey recommended the t the City purchase aLY water that may be available in Hyalite Reservoir, such as the rights of N. L. Towne and R. B. MacNab, to insure adequacy of the City's future supply. They advised the Commiss ion the. t engineering work is expected to be complete enough so the City may call for bids on the project by March 15, 1957. Description of right-of-ways necessary were presented with the suggestion that such easements be obtained as soon as possible. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the meeting adjourn, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: thos e voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin and Commissioner Lowe; -those voting No, none.
